IMO, let’s look a Murray money if traded. The salary (22.8 mil) goes with Murray. The Prorated & Option bonuses (18 mil) are paid by the Cards and immediately all, including those in future years, immediately apply to the cap either before or after June 1. The roster bonus (17 mil) is in play. It’s due in March. If he’s not traded until after March, the Cards pay it. If he’s traded before March it’s negotiable which team pays all or part. The 2027 & 2028 salaries go with Murray. Roster bonuses for those years likely go but could be negotiated. The (34 mil) salary for 2028 is possibly a problem. With salaries rising it may be normal, but money can always be included by the Cards to pay down the whole deal. A team can always give money to make a deal happen.

Under his current deal, Kyler’s $19.5MM 2027 salary guarantees on March 22 2026. That’s not a big number for the team who takes his deal, but it’s not nothing.

Kyler can manipulate where he goes by agreeing to a restructure to make a deal happen with a favorite suitor.

I have a really hard time believing that Michael can get the family to pony up $17 million in actual dollars to make Kyler go away.

My operating theory is there’s no chance they cut him. They kept a completely cooked Colt McCoy on the roster throughout 2023 training camp because he had like $3MM of guaranteed salary.
the problem is on March 22 in the offseason, $19mm of his 2027 salary becomes guaranteed. I see no way he is on the roster-- one way or another -- on March 22, 2026.

Kyler will net a 1st or 2nd round pick for us.

I want us to package up picks and move into the top 5 for a QB.
I used to think that, but now that it's obvious KM has been the issue all along with this offense, and his contract doesn't justify his production. Cards will be lucky to get a 5th for a team to take on his contract.

You mean if we’d kept playing him he’d have positioned us for a #1 or #2 overall pick, right?

Because no one is giving up a first round pick for the right to pay Kyler Murray $52 million over the next two years.

How does he get a vote?

No trade clause?

If not he goes where you send him

Ha, ha...

He just has to say, 'I don't want to go there,' and that team drops the offer.

Forcing the CARDS to release him is easy-peasy.

That said, if a team like Pittsburgh were willing to take on his contract, I could see KM saying, 'Okay.'

It's all about the money for Pro ball players

The team sets up the trade and then they get to talk to KM

He would be really selfish to not recognize a team that wants to help him further his career

He can’t stop a trade but if he somehow lets them know he doesn’t want to play for them it may dampen their enthusiasm.

He'll have made $170 million at the end of this season.

I'll bet his heart's desire is to be on a team that actually has a chance to win it all, not simply giving him a chance to play.

That's why I suggested the Steelers as a possible landing spot if the Cardinals approached them.

No, I mean people will thrown on film from 2020, 2021, and 2022 and trade a 1st round pick for him. The guy has gone to 2 probowls in the correct offense.

This forum is entirely off on the type of pick Kyler will garner.

Josh Rosen got shipped out for a 2nd.
We shipped a 1st for Hollywood brown.
Sauce Gardner (with an inflated contracted he signed in July)just got shipped off for a 2 first round picks and he is a mid corner.

Kyler and contract will garner a 1st. No doubt.

I'm entirely and 100% on the trade Kyler train. I'm just saying dont be surprised if we get a 1st for him!

Agree to disagree. When can revisit when he is traded and see what he got.

The only way we'd get a 1st for him is if JB ends up playing poorly down the stretch and KM returns and plays lights out. I'd give that a 1% chance of that happening but I suppose it's still a chance.

I disagree... If Kyler never plays another snap this year he still garners a 1st.

At the trade deadline? no way.
Offseason and people can move cap around and plan? Absolutely.

lol that's a pretty bold take. Why would any team spend a 1st on a player that's accomplished nothing? Especially if that player is hobbled and was more than likely put on the shelf because his backup was outperforming him? I think every qb needy team would rather spend their 1st to get someone this upcoming draft. I can't imagine any team offering anything higher than a 3rd and even that would be wishful thinking.
