Are there any other QB's under 30 years old that have been outright cut with a massive cap hit?

I can't think of any...but it would be a new record/new low for the Cardinals.

An all time low for the most losing franchise in NFL history. Wow.

But that won't stop the Never-Murray's from popping the champagne corks after we've run K1 out of town.

Schefter said on NFL Live / ESPN that 49ers are unlikely to trade Mac Jones. Think this posturing by the 49ers but may influence the QB market.

Exactly my point...there isn't a QB under the age of 30 that has been cut with a massive cap hit. Zero.

We would take a $54M cap hit! Makes zero sense.

Vick - $13M and went to prison. I think they got $6M of it back.
Daniel Jones - $22M (not "massive"). Arguably had a career year with his new team.
Sanchez - $17M

Like him or not - you don't cut QB's under 30 with a massive cap hit.
The only way out is a trade or you wait until 2027.

Jones was $70 million in dead money spread over two years.

Go to history and scroll down to dead money.

So if you can't trade him, your response is to keep him? What would that look like with Pouty McPouterson?

Got it - thank you.

Ok, so one person.

The point remains, there is such a scarcity of QB's that you don't cut under 30 year olds with massive cap hits.
Daniel Jones ended up having a career year after he was cut.

I'll give you one: KM says I don't want to go there! = end of trade talks.
he would forfeit his bonus and void his contract, no? Hes got 2 years left, so it does not behoove him to start looking for a new deal in that scenario, when his stock is at its lowest.

So if he had stayed in NY, he would have suddenly put up a year like he was having for Indy? You know better than that. Murray could repeat that, but he's not suddenly resurrecting everything for this org.

Sure, if it's strictly about money, and the new employer accepts the contract as is, but I doubt that will be the case.

He's grossed over $170m.

This offers more than a little independence.

I don't think he would have had a year like that in NY.
Agreed - Murray could do that same thing.

Every team is probably a better option for him than Arizona.
He doesn't have a no trade clause and he is under contract, so he has zero leverage.
If he refuses to play, he gets suspended and loses money.

I think he is just as interested in moving to a new team as we are to move him.
The only question at this point is trade compensation.
