Arizona is football graveyard. We are where players go to fail.

Sure, we catch lighting in a bottle once in a while with a McBride or a Fitzgerald or a Warner.

But for every McBride, there are 20 Troy Niklases and Jim Drays.

And the stench of of the last 100 years of failure and incompetence is overpowering.

I wish we never would have drafted Murray. That way I wouldn't have had to watch his incredible talent utterly wasted on this caricature of an NFL franchise.

I guess we can hope for a miracle on the HC hire. We're drawing to a one-outer at the moment (poker reference).
You're arguing against yourself. We clearly didn't catch lightning in a bottle with Murray, you're saying, so he clearly isn't some incredible talent.

No you're exactly right my friend.

Murray is a player who's career track could have gone either way (success or failure).

If he had been drafted by even a competent franchise (say, MIN e.g.), things might have been, probably would have been, different for him.

Versus as a McBride or Fitzgerald, he was a player who's success was/is influenced by the organizational infrastructure around him. He needed some help to reach his full potential.

And, of course, he received just the opposite from the fighting Arizona Football Cardinals, who never failed to put him in a position to fail.

And so his fate was sealed once Goodell called his name that fateful day in April of 2019. K1 was doomed the moment the ink was printed on the card from which Roger read.

This I can roll with. He's nowhere close to a Fitz or McBride, but given the proper coaching and a proper team, he could have been better, for sure. Would he have been a playoff winner? Maybe. His mentality and ability to read defenses/make progressions may have still held him back. Or not. Who knows?

Unfortunately, by now he has those bad habits ingrained, so I don't see much success for him elsewhere. We shall see.

let me add this: the Cards have LESS cap room that the Seahawks or Rams, and about the same as the 49ers. All for 9-10 fewer wins.
Details matter. Cards have something like 44 players from last year's 53 and the only starters of note they lose are JT (already got replacement), Jonah Williams and CC.

The Seahawks and Rams have far more starters to extend or replace, especially the Seahawks. Most of their cap space will be gone by FA.

I believe the Rams have to deal with Stafford's contract this off season as well right?

You can save yourself some time, and just quote the post I made earlier in the thread that says almost the exact same thing. And if you aren't reading my posts, what are you even doing on here.

LA has 2 UFAs who played a majority of snaps at their positions. A safety and a nickel CB.

SF has Jauan Jennings as a UFA -

SEA has Kenneth Walker, Shaheed, Jobe and Woolen at CB, and Boye Mafe.

you can make an argument for SEA, but not LAR or SF

Jennings and Walker would give us a new look I think.

Yep. Anyone coming from the Shanahan tree would definitely be interested in Jennings. He is a big physical WR who is a strong blocker in the running game.

Kubiak might be able to steal Walker away from Seattle. However with the nasty injury to Charbonet, Seattle will probably push hard to keep Walker.

Here's an objective measure of college QB talent BHCF. Guess who's #3 on the list (as a junior)? :)

Murray had arguably the greatest QB single season performance ever!

A person doesn't perform like that unless they are truly gifted as a player.
And that's where he peaked, I guess. Got into the College Football Playoffs that season and...surprise...lost his first playoff game. So, clearly not the greatest QB single season performance ever. ;) That would have ended with a championship.

If you are worth a damn as a coach, you are better off signing Shaheed to be a returner and 3rd WR and then coaching up MHJ.

Well Brian, you'll get your fondest wish soon, and K1 will be moving on shortly (no pun intended).

I'm pretty sure that's not going to translate to us winning more games in 2026. I think next season is going to be pretty miserable.

It might eventually lead to us winning more games in 2027 and beyond (than we would have won with Murray), but it's going to take some top shelf work from Monti for this to happen.

I guess we can hope.

GLENDALE – The Arizona Cardinals head coaching search has taken away focus from quarterback Kyler Murray’s trade rumors. The two-time Pro Bowler is expected to be dealt out of Arizona after seven years. With the franchise’s current standing, many project the Cardinals to look for draft asset as the 2026 NFL draft approaches.

That would be sweet if this team could actually get something for Kyler. If the Jets end up trading for him this organization should take Dante Moore out to dinner or send him a fruit basket or something for deciding to stay in school lol
