It’s obviously ridiculous for Kyler to be pursuing a contract extension right now, but that could be in the plan next offseason. In 2026 his contract takes up 18% of the cap including a huge roster bonus that’s already guaranteed.

We could bring down that cap number on an extension.

So,you want to pay 1/3rd of a billion dollars for another six years with no playoff wins?! Man… I really thought watching an ACTUAL superstar with Shai would have opened your eyes to what Kyler obviously is not, but guess I was wrong.

Only kidding Cheese! :) haha.

Even the most irrational K1 supporter, if truly a Cardinals fan, would not support an extension for Murray at this point in the proceedings.

Now, after a great 2025? Where K1 leads us to the conference championship game? Impacting games with both his legs and arm? Making some plays in the clutch? Sure, let's talk a reasonable extension.

We’ve never been given ANY evidence this is true, at least on the mental side of the equation. So that’s complete conjecture.
I mean...I don't think it is a far stretch. The convo probably depends on what you consider is doing extra. Kyler has been reported as doing things with teammates outside of the facility with a variety of groups. There are videos of him training at the facility in the off-season. So, I think it is fair to say he meets or slightly exceeds the off-the-field work demand. I have a tough time believing he could be as good as he is if he didn't.

If that extra work is paying off is a different convo. Conner has obviously impacted Kyler from a teammate, physical work standpoint. I feel like Kyler connects personally with his teammates better now. I just don't believe that whatever he is doing to refine his QB skills is working or enough. He has not yet found a way to mitigate his size limitations.

Okay, that's me done trying to be considerate and reconcile opinions. Back to just blasting the truth no matter how many homers cover their ears and go "Nananananana!"
Still waiting on some truth and not your seculation of K1s football habits.

Oh that would be hilarious and the melt downs would be epic.

He has to have a great season this year for that to happen which he is more than capable of doing.

2 weeks and we play real football.

You are also saying it's something mental. I agree, I don't agree that he doesn't want to get hit that is different than any other QB in the league. If that were the case, he ne a shortstop in Sacramento right now.
He's skittish. It's a huge problem. Your baseball argument makes no sense - he was guaranteed tons of money in the NFL. Definitely not the same case in the MLB.

You mean like you did in the article criticizing Kyler’s training camp performance and instead wish-casted the report as championing the defense?
Instead of being joyful & grinning for the “Gotcha” moment & coming to defend your buddy’s honor, how about you reread that thread again. Matter of fact, start with page 9 where I insert myself into the conversation. I agreed “Kyler was being Kyler” (negative connotation).

So, no, not like I did.

He would have make $10 million in his first MLB contract, but ok. 1st rounders make great money in MLB. Andrew Luck retired because he did want to get hit anymore and damage his brain. CBS speculates he gave up $500 million, so my argument makes perfect sense.

Being the #1 overall pick in the NFL, (and playing QB) were always going to be much better financially both in the short term and long term than being an outfielder in MLB. Who knows how long it would have taken him to get to the major league level. Once you're there, between team control, arbitration years, you're either going to sign a below market deal like Corbin Carroll and hope he pans out, or wait a long time for a big paycheck.

For Kyler and his situation, the financial promise of the NFL vs. MLB was a no brainer.

Not to mention by the time that rookie contract expired any threat of him switching back to baseball was gone.

I want to think the extension thing will take care of itself. Meaning:

either Kyler will play top 12 QB football and get into the playoffs and win a game ........ or

we will see the same up and down play (and down at the critical moments) and the team will underachieve. Kyler will become Derek Carr at that point and probably get traded for a song.
