How many UDFA's have made the team the last couple of years? AJ Schable and John Bronson are the only two I see listed on the nfl.com depthchart page.

I think we are ok in the TE department. Why is everyone so worried? TE is not a weakness on this team.

I agree...Leonard Pope, Ben Patrick and Bergen are a good group and now that we may have an offense that knows they are on the field we should see good production in that area...watching the video on Patrick he looks like a great blocker and quite an athlete.

I thought Bergen was non-tendered by the Cards.

TE`s on the roster as of 5-1-07
Leonard Pope #82
Ben Patrick #89
Troy Bienemann # 83 can also long snap
Alex Shor #49
John Bronson #39 listed on new roster as a TE

Plenty of TE possibilities.

How good is he at long snapping? We could get rid of Hodel and be able to use the extra roster spot.

Punter/Kicker Ricky Schmitt (6-2, 192) from Shepherd punted 41 times for a 42.7 yard average last season with 12 punts inside the 20 and also had eight kickoffs go for touchbacks. A Division II second-team All-American in 2006, Schmitt holds school records for scoring (250 points), field goals (33), extra points (151), and points in a season (80 in 2005).

I - N E V E R - expected to see the Cardinals sign a player from My alma mater - even as camp fodder!!!?!!

In reading their write-ups, one pattern that emerged was that the one thing a lot of these guys lacked and was holding them back was lower-body strength.

I wonder how many of these guys were brought in with the thought that a season under John Lott's watchful eye could transform them into productive football players.

Also - the thing of it is, regarding the draft and free agency is that "the draft gets you here but from here on out, it's you and 79 other dudes competing for roster spots and starting status all on the same level playing field."

It doesn't matter if you were drafted early or signed a free agent contract. Everyone's got an equal shot based on what they will do.

Guard Tim Downing (6-4, 305) from Ohio State

Guard Brian Johnson (6-4, 307) from Louisiana State

Lyle Sendlein (6-2, 305) of Texas

Bringing in starting O-linemen from big-time programs makes a lot of sense to me. These guys are used to tough competition and maybe you find a player.

sounds like Will Gulley is a playmaker at the saftey position.

I like Roshon Vercher. He blocked for 4 straight 1,000 rusher. Just what Whisenhunt is looking for. Lorenzo O'neal mold.

Matt Trannon is an interesting prospect. i wonder if they are going to try to convert him into a tightend. Love his size.

David Halloway sounds like he can make the team.

all in all the cardinals are defintley trying to up-grade the o-line. The Cardinals have a plan and they are sticking to it.

How good is he at long snapping? We could get rid of Hodel and be able to use the extra roster spot.

I doubt we get rid of Hodel. He's one of the best at what he does and in special teams there's very little room for error. Also, long snappers don't do anything but snap. If we were to get rid of Hodel his replacement would never see the field doing anything but snapping. What if he got hurt? Try kicking an important field goal with a replacement snapper.

Has anyone seen Baylark play? The only scouting report I've seen had his 40 at 4.64 to 4.84. Not exactly a burner.

Hi guys, as a junior here at UMass and a member of the Marching Band, I've seen every home game (as well as 3 or 4 away games vs big teams including this years national championship game in Chattanooga) that Baylark has played in. I just learned today in the campus paper you guys signed him, congrats, Hes a HUGE fan favorite here. Glad he gets a chance (albeit buried on a depth chart) to play in the NFL.

Your correct, Baylarks biggest asset isn't speed. Hes a power running back (in Div I-AA anyway) but has great vision and hits holes well. He has solid agility and can have good bursts of speed too, but doesn't really make a living off either. There really isn't any one particular aspect of his game that you could use to label him as "this type" of runningback. This past year he really improved alot. His vision and timing really reached new levels this season (although he had a MUCH better team around him this year too). I beleive he holds some of the records here at UMass, but the only reason he doesn't have all of them is because I beleive his numbers were slightly behind those of a Marcel Shipp, who you might be familiar with. But I'm going to say he is pretty close to on the level Shipp was when he came out of UMass.

Hope he makes your team, he has supurb character and you can tell he loves to play football and really has a passion for it. Enjoy.

haha yes. Its interesting being a Dolphins fan at UMass, I'm slightly outnumbered by Pats fans. Although honestly people really only care about the Red Sox.
I suppose Finfan is 100 times better than Patriotsfan.

So again, welcome to the board.

Thanks, you've probably got the two most famous UMass players on your team in Shipp and Baylark so the Cards are officially my favorite NFC team now. (ironically I've seen Ben Patrick play a couple times too, not that I remember anything at all about him except we destroyed Delaware when we played them)
