A recent list of pre-season All-Big Ten teams has been released, and only one Husker made the first-team cut. Jacory Barney Jr. was selected by Athlon Sports as the top punt returner in the conference heading into the 2026 season.

Barney was the 2025 All-Big Ten Third-Team Return Specialist by the media and an honorable mention by the coaches. He ranked 13th nationally in punt returns with an average of 12.3 yards per return out of 22 attempts.

The Nebraska punt returner is joined on the first-team special teams unit by kicker Nico Radicic of Indiana, punter Bryce McFerson of Maryland and kick returner Koi Perich of Oregon.

Athlon Sports has been mixed on the Huskers heading into the 2026 season, ranking Nebraska 10th out of all 18 teams. The publication also ranked fourth-year head coach Matt No. 11 among his 17 peers.
