Nebraska softball two-way star Jordy Frahm was named the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year on Tuesday. Frahm beat out Megan Grant (UCLA) and Isa Torres (Florida State) for the honor. She is the first Husker to win the award, which has been handed out since 2002.
The Papillion, Nebraska, native is hitting .416 with 19 home runs and 50 RBI. She has an on-base percentage of .511 and a slugging percentage of .827.
In the circle, Frahm is 20-4 with a 1.14 ERA and 12 saves. She has struck out 234 batters so far this season while only walking 30. The Big Ten Pitcher of the Year ranks in the top ten nationally in saves (first - 12 saves), strikeout-to-walk ratio (third - 7.80), ERA (fourth - 1.14), shutouts (fourth - eight solo/three combined), WHIP (fifth) and strikeouts (ninth - 234).
Frahm helped guide the Huskers to both a Big Ten regular-season and tournament title this season, along with the team's first trip to the Women's College World Series since 2013. She was also named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Year.
The Huskers will face the Arkansas Razorbacks on Thursday in the Women's College World Series. ESPN2 will televise the game from OG&E Field at Devon Park. Streaming options for the game include ESPN+.
Nebraska enters the WCWS after defeating Oklahoma State to win the Lincoln Super Regional. Arkansas defeated Duke to win the Fayetteville Super Regional.
