Nebraska baseball shortstop Dylan Carey and relief pitcher Carson Jasa were named to the All-Big Ten first team on Tuesday. Additionally, Carey was named to the Big Ten All-Defensive Team and was the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.
Carey had a successful season for the Huskers. He batted. 347 with 14 home runs and 63 RBIs. The home runs were a Big 10-best, and he led the Huskers in home runs.
Carey also achieved additional personal success. He became Nebraska’s all-time career leader in doubles this season.
Jasa went 9-2, starting 14 games. He recorded a 3.58 ERA in 75.1 innings pitched. He was difficult for opposing hitters, as he held them today. 211 batting average to go along with 101 strikeouts. All in all, he proved to be a major force for the Huskers and a much-needed stabilizer in the rotation.
Nebraska baseball benefited greatly from the duo's exemplary play. Now, they will look to them for additional success with postseason play heating up.
