Nebraska shortstop Dylan Carey has been named a finalist for the 2026 Brooks Wallace Award. The award honors the nation’s top shortstop and is named for Brooks Wallace, who played for the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
The winner of the award will be officially announced at Charles Schwab Field on Saturday, June 13, ahead of the College World Series. Carey joins a group that includes four other candidates. This includes UCLA's Roch Cholowsky, the 2025 award winner.
Carey had a tremendous year for the Huskers at the plate. He hit .353 with 15 home runs and 65 RBI. He had 16 doubles, two triples, and 53 runs scored on the year.
He was an offensive catalyst for the program and was a major reason for their success. Carey also excelled on the field with a. 981 field percentage, committing only four errors across 216 defensive stops.
It was a banner year for Carey all around. His year will go down as one of the most successful individual seasons in Nebraska baseball history.
