The accolades continue for Nebraska baseball with two players earning All-Central Region honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings on Tuesday. Right-handed pitcher Carson Jasa made first-team All-Central Region, and shortstop Dylan Carey received second-team accolades, becoming the fifth and sixth players to make all-region selections under head coach Will Bolt.
Jasa rose in his redshirt sophomore year, finishing 10-2 on the mound, becoming the first Nebraska pitcher to earn 10 wins in a season since Johnny Dorn in 2007 and the 13th in program history to reach the mark. He also made first-team All-Big Ten, the third Nebraska starting pitcher to make the team since 2021.
The Thornton, Colorado, native tallied a 3.59 ERA, firing 117 strikeouts across 87.2 innings in 16 appearances and limiting opponents to a batting average of .210. He also played two complete games. Jasa's 117 strikeouts placed him fifth in program history for punchouts in a season. He also recorded 10 starts with at least eight strikeouts and fired a career-high 11 strikeouts against Penn State. Jasa reached double-digit strikeouts in three games this season.
Carey, meanwhile, concluded a massive collegiate career for Nebraska. The senior also made first-team All-Big Ten and won Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year by earning a .981 fielding percentage with just four errors in 216 chances. He also recorded 29 double plays at shortstop.
In the batter's box, the Castle Rock, Colorado, native hit a .353 average, totaling career-highs in hits (85), RBIs (65), home runs (15), runs scored (53) and triples (two). He also struck 16 doubles. Carey also finished his career with 266 hits, 167 RBIs and 165 runs, becoming the ninth Husker in program history to reach the 200-150-150 mark. He did become the team's all-time leader in career doubles with 63.
