Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum returned to the floor this season shockingly fast after going down with an Achilles injury during last season’s playoff run, which cost him the start of the 2025-26 campaign.

The Celtics were unceremoniously swept by the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, and Tatum is turning his focus to next season and getting Boston back to the top of the mountain, but that’s not the only thing he has going on.

The Celtics star sat down with Front Office Sports’ Dan Roberts for a video interview on Thursday and talked about some of the things he’s involved in off the floor.

“There was a story recently that you were involved with a group trying to bring a WNBA to St. Louis, your home city. Any update on that? Is that something you’re still trying to make happen?” Roberts asked.

“I think technically I’m not allowed to speak on that,” Tatum responded. “As much as I would love to, I don’t think I can right now.”

Asked @jaytatum0 about Game 4 (“pretty special game”), Knicks in the Finals (“it does help that I won a championship already”), trying to bring a WNBA team to STL (“I’m not allowed to speak on that” with a smile) and who’s the face of the NBA? @FOShttps://t.co/RXZsheLgZv

Tatum did confirm, however, that bringing something “very cool and special to St. Louis” remains “near and dear” to his heart.

“I’m always looking at opportunities and ways to amplify the city of St. Louis and the people that live there,” he added.

The WNBA has expansion teams scheduled to join the league in 2028, 2029, and 2030 in Cleveland, Detroit, and Philadelphia, respectively. Tatum won’t go as far as confirming that a team in St. Louis is on the heels of joining the league in the next decade, but he isn’t denying it, either.
