Marvin Lewis' futility in the playoffs is well documented. He's in his 16th season and he's been in 7 playoff games with zero wins. I mean, he lost to the Texans in the playoffs. Twice. But overall as a coach he's been successful. Playing on one of the perennial toughest divisions in the NFL, He's compiled a 129-115-3 record with the 7 playoff appearances and 4 division championships. I think the reason why Mike Brown is reluctant to fire him is because it's hard to find good coaches. We're no strangers to this. We've had a revolving door of coaches forever with Whiz and Jim Hanifan being the only coaches to last more than 5 seasons. And we're not the only ones. The more successful teams tend to be teams who don't change coaches every few years. Then look at the teams who change coaches like people change underwear. The Browns, Dolphins(since Shula), Bills(since Levy), Jets, etc. Marginal success at best. I believe we need to find a coach and stick with them for a while even if they're struggling at first. I'm not saying stick with Wilks because it's obvious he's over his head but let's find someone who can build from scratch and grow.

If Brown fires Lewis they would go back to being the embarrassing Bungles of the 90’s. He coached and built that team to respectibility, but he just can’t win in the playoffs. I guess it’s better than 1-15.

if you like settling for mediocrity then I guess keep them around because that’s what he gives you 16 years and is just a smidge above .500 and absolutely atrocious in the playoffs not to mention his teams as a whole are some of the worst behaved in the entire league… he should’ve been fired years ago.. Yay for mediocre stability

OK, so, decades of changing coaches every few years with the same level of mediocrity is a better option?

It's hard to build something that is the best, only one team by definition gets there every year so your chances are always 1/32 but given differences in talent both management and players it's not really even that good for most teams.

So just winning in the regular season is valued more than it should be but would you rather have a team win it's division and lose every playoff game or would you like to keep trying to catch lightning in a bottle and risk the year we are having now?

Myself I don't think it has to be one or the other if you're smart about this, even one or two years of this is ok if there is a goal somewhere out there but there is yet one more option that sucks the most of all and the one we're on it seems.

The going nowhere option, that one just sucks the life out of fans, no hope for the future, no hope for the present, pretty much where hope goes to die.

Based on your theory we should’ve never had Whiz or Bruce Arians... i’ll take the years of both of those coaches than 16 dealing with Lewis And his mediocre crap show

I don't believe he said that and those aren't the only two options. Instability is a bad thing. So is mediocrity.

Look at it this way. Marvin Lewis is a worse version of Jeff Fisher. I think I'd comfortably move on from that. It's true that that might mean what the Titans have been for the past decade but if you don't even try, you'll never get a Sean McVay either.

What you guys are misunderstanding is that I'm not saying Lewis is a good coach but he is better than average and because he's been somewhat successful in the regular season, it's probably the reason why Mike Brown has been reluctant to pull the trigger.

What you are saying is wrong.... He isn’t better than average in anyway shape or form.... he is the epitomy of below average and completely underwhelming.... you sir are obviously easily pleased...

And let’s not forget that Mike Brown is a horrible owner also. Marvin Lewis is well below average, always has been & always will be.

You care for me to list the cast of losers who've come through this team?

How many below average coaches have a career winning record?

The Guys winning percentage after 16 seasons is 11 games above 500 think about that for second? And during that 16 year run we as an organization have had better seasons, played in a SB 2 mins from winning, for the right to get to another and had 7 playoff victories in some of the best most tear creating moments I’ve seen in 30 years of a fan of this team.

I’ll take all that and the way we do business over staying with the perennially average Marvin Lewis who you are touting.... Who after 260 contests is barely 11 games above 500 and completely winless in the playoffs over that time frame with seven chances …

I’m pretty sure they piss test at your job right??? (I’m kidding) but come on dude Marvin Lewis? Really?

Marvin Lewis or Jeff Fisher? Long mediocre careers. Both living on the fault line.
