Grossman is pretty much a rookie...

If you guys remember, Rex is our "China doll" and has actually not played much in the NFL due to injuries. We just keep holding our breath with each play, hoping that he won't get sacked and get hurt. Yeah, we have Brian Griese as backup quarterback, but not really sure how good he is currently. So, we Bear fans have that constant fear of "here today, gone tomorrow" with Rex. The "luck factor" again.

Just FYI, Bears teams throughout the years have been known for great running backs and great defense. It's the quarterback position that has always been lacking...well, unless you go way back to McMahon, or even further to Sid Luckman. Other than that, "nada"...."zilch". For that reason, I guess we're banking on Grossman to be "the saviour".

Hmmmmm. I suppose if I told you guys I was a lifelong Notre Dame fan (Hey...what can I say, I'm Chicago Irish, and my daughter graduated from ND in 2003)...that you'd pile on that team as well ;) Well, they're definitely good, but definitely not super-great like the teams ahead of them in the rankings. Personally, I don't ever think I'll recover from that Michigan fiasco. No "Luck of the Irish" on that day.

Still upset with ND for luring Tyrone Willingham away from Stanford and then dumping him before his contract was up. I do think there was a bit of a racial issue there...that if he had been a white coach, like Bob Davie before him (major sucky), he would have been allowed to at least complete his contract. That was a stupid move on the part of ND, because they alienated many of the black students or future students, athletes in particular. I might add that my daughter, who is biracial, was 1 of 45 African-American students in a graduating class of over 2.750 in 2003, so the ratio was not that great to begin with.

Anyway, I'm off my soap box for now, and possibly out of job because I've been screwing around with you guys all night. It's been fun though.

Talking "smack"? You listen to Jim Rome also? If so, good choice.

I'm actually not talking smack. Just reality. I said either team could win, because that's how it goes sometimes. Underdogs win all the time, so why not the Cardinals? I myself doubt that the Bears can go undefeated all season. Gimme a break.....I'm not looking at the world through rose-colored glasses.

Oh...and my name is Regina, and I don't wiggle my arse. Well okay, maybe I do...but just for my boyfriend in private. Otherwise, no backfield in motion on my part.

Peace.

sounds like you are wiggle your ass for all of us on this board. your boy friend just like to watch. that the game you play. another thing it doesn't take a whole lot to smack around a few cardinals fans. the team has nothing but underachieve this whole season. kinda reminds me of the redskins.

Whatever

What about the stinkin' Cheeseheads up in GB. Pretty sad to see Favre looking so bad, but then again I'm a Bear fan so I don't really give a flying cheese loaf because Packer fans have been ramming their arrogance down our throats for decades. Now Favre is simply unBEARable and great sack material. Talk about sad.....talk about the Packers.

Getting to know your Monday night opponent.....hey, I go to the opponents territory all the time, um...obviously ;)

You can't be serious. Getting to know your opponent, yet you quoted only articles from your own town? :biglaugh:

Thats like trying to find out Bush's failures by asking Dick Cheney.

Think again...

Why would I post articles from your local papers when you should be reading that stuff yourself? I've read your local papers via the internet, but I figured for me to post those here would be redundant, showing you something you've already seen. How do you think I found this Fan Forum?...I was researching the opponent, as I do every week...educating myself as to what's out there on the horizon. I don't take opponents lightly, no matter how great the Bears are doing. The Cards are to be reckoned with, and I just went out and did my research on your team. But your local papers? Post them here? You should have already seen all those papers and articles on your own team...otherwise, what kind of a fan are you?

If you took Bears' opponents lightly, would the Bears be more likely to lose?

Solitaire? :( I'd rather search the internet for erotic black and white photos to e-mail my boyfriend and taunt him while he's at work. Speaking of which..... ;)

My apologies. I just realized that you're most likely a diehard Republican stranded in Clintonville.

I don't go around burdening folks with who I did or didn't vote for. Also getting into political discussions on this board are forbidden. Dreamcasts was more than likely throwing out some political red meat to provoke you and you took the bait. Get a clue dude.

FWIW, this Bears team is better than the 85 team IMO. Some of that is the evolution of the NFL player over 20 years as well as the evolution of schemes but I firmly believe this team is better.

There is no such thing as a sure win in this league, especially on the road. Fitz out of the lineup, though, makes a HUGE difference.

This is not just a very good Bears team but a team that thinks it is the best team in the NFL. That is a scary combination. Sure, we could beat the Bears but take a look at where people put their money in Vegas to get a real view of our chances. Leinhart looks very much like the real deal to me but I just hope he does not get seriously hurt behind this line. When we cannot run and the opposition knows we are passing our QB be it Warner or Leinhart is going to take some big hits.

Just purchased a new 46" Samsung LCD HD TV and new HR-20 Direct recorder so I will be watching up close and personal. By the way, I think I posted that for $198 I got the latest and greatest Direct recorder, 2 Direct receivers, a HD Receiver, a 5 LNB antenea (sure bigger than the 3 LNB antena), and free installation for all for the $198. Sure sounds like a deal to me.

Jeff:

Losing a starting wideout might not be a catastrophe for most teams. It is for this one. When a one-dimensional passing offense loses one of its two best receivers, it's gonna hurt. I agree with you that the injuries to Kendrick Clancy and--especially--Milford Brown are background noise, but having Larry Fitzgerald out for 2-5 weeks is huge.

Any reasonable observer would call this a mismatch. The Chicago Bears aren't just unbeaten this season. With the exception of their 19-16 road win at Minnesota (3-2), they're not just winning games, they're humiliating the other team. We're talking a point differential of 137-20 in those four games.

I don't know where you attack Lovie Smith's team. The weak spot of the Bears traditionally has been their offense in general, and more-specifically their ability to throw the ball and score points. After five weeks, though, this year's Bears have the NFL's #3 offense--higher-ranked than their defense, in fact--with the league's fifth-highest passing yards and second-most passing TDs.

And the Cardinals' ability to move the ball against that 7th-ranked defense just took a hit when Fitzgerald went down. With the Bears doubling Anquan Boldin and bringing the house against Matt Leinart, it's hard to envision the Cards keeping this close.

Which is what I hope they can do. I'm hanging my hopes on Leinart, and an out-of-body collective performance by the Cards defenders. If I were betting this game, though, I'm afraid I'd take the Bears and give the 10-1/2 points by which they're favored.

I'm not trying to be overly pessimistic. But reality is what it is. :(

WC

Isn't our former running back heading up the Bears running attack. Watching him on TV he surely runs with abandon and toughness. Cannot remember why we got rid of him. Was it because a lack of heart??? Of course he is not running behind our line.

Leinert

Mike Ditka hosts a weekly radio show from his Chicago restaurant, Ditka's (what else?) every Thursday morning. I know that in Chicago, Ditka is pretty much God, but I think that elsewhere he is quite respected as well for his football savvy, his guts as a player and coach, and his candor. When the subject of Leinert came up a few weeks ago, Ditka was fast to say that Joe Montana's rookie season was not a great one at all (Ditka was with Dallas at the time), but look where he went from there. Ditka says that Leinert is "a kid to watch"....and that "greatness doesn't always shine forth in a player's first pro season". I'm with Mike.

The Cardinals have a goldmine in Leinert. He just needs to get past the rookie season. Whatever your team is this year, next year could be an entirely different story. You guys have seen that scenario play out a million times.

The story of the '84 Bears was very lackluster...in fact, when they played San Fran, some of the 49er players commented "Next time, bring your offense". In '85, they sure as hell did.

Do you ever post comments about your team?

You can call me dude if you want, but the term isn't usually applied to females. Hmmmm. Perhaps what you want to call me isn't allowed on this site. ;)

Shut up and talk football or leave. Quit playing the "I'm a female." card.
