with the hiring of lafleur - the drafting of love and the return of tip reiman i'd think it's safe to say the cardinals will spend most of their time in 12 personnel this season - but that's just the hippie's guess

this is really exciting - nobody knows just how much control lafleur had in los angeles but we do know they leaned into the 12 these past couple years

12 personnel is perfect for us imo - it gives us a base package to operate from allowing us to disguise our intentions

we were highly predictable last year - not just because we went thru 8 runningbacks but also because we lost tip reiman in early october - the tip debates are fun and all about where he was drafted but truth is our run game went even more to ish when tip's ankle gave out

we can run - run play action - hit hot routes with ease and even take deep shots in 12 personnel - the only perceived downside would be only having 2 wide receivers on the field but we only have 2 wide receivers so...

mcbride could line up as a slot receiver - imagine sending tip in motion with mcbride at the slot - imagine trying to be the 190 pound defender trying to cover mcbride over the middle

it's all so juicy - tip and love are going to make all the difference for lafleur - tip solves a lot of our protection issues - the rest can be solved with misdirection - stafford and the rams were really good at inviting blitzes - and burning the crap out of them

tip reiman yall - lead blocking for jeremiah love out on the flat - good luck with that - specially if wilson and mhj line up on the other side

if love rushes for 1,200 yards tip will have a hand in that - if mcbride still gets to run routes when the defense is showing blitz tip will have a hand in that

the rams are also known for going 13 personnel on the goalline- for you non-pot smokers out there that means 3 tight ends - usually one on each side and another as the lead blocker for the running back - tip is most definitely going to have a hand in that

we can run playaction from the goaline!

me thinks lafleur will want to run the 12 a lot - jeremiah love will benefit from the 12 - our qb (whomever that may be) will have more time to operate in the 12 - i think it could unlock everything

petzing was hamstringed too after reiman was injured - when he ran 12 personnel it was often just because our o-line sucked - problem was our remaining tight ends were no reiman (when it came to blocking)

petzing wasn't utilizing the 12 to disguise and be creative with the playcall - petzing was just trying to buy another half second for brissett - it was that pathetic

for deep shots im assuming you got paris on one side - tip and the right tackle on the other - you can leave jeremiya in for pass protection or let him sneak out with the safeties occupied on the deep threat

if the 12 is your mainstay defenses shouldn't know what's coming - they have to prepare for everything

i haven't looked up if beck is familiar with the 12 but it sounds like he ran a lot of nfl formations in college - honestly - only having two wide receivers might be easier for the rookie but if brissett does get the start he could theoretically ball out with a run game and lafleur calling the shots

kurt warner preferred shotgun 3 wide because his brain was faster than the nfl game - same could be said for palmer but brissett and beck ain't warner and palmer if you know what i'm saying (interceptions instead of tds)

this personnel would likely be sink or swim for mhj - he'd have to hold down his side of the field and demand coverage - that means being both reliable and dangerous - winning one on ones consistently and catching the ball

if you were to lineup against the arizona cardinals tomorrow who are you putting your #1 lock down cb on?

ideally we'd like some real speed in our #2 receiver - instead we'll have to settle for the 4th pick of the nfl draft - and im lowcarb tired of his daddy too - but hey atleast wilson panned out

I don’t think there is any real need to run much man vs AZ until they show they can run vs nickel personnel and block up vs a pass rush. Most teams should start with a split S look and adjust from there. It’s not so bad to make AZ dink and dunk down the field. You are basically playing your defense vs AZs defense and seeing which one can make more stops.

I’m hearing he worked his tail off this offseason. With JB likely throwing to him I expect a successful year. He had a drop problem he didn’t experience in college I think he got psyched out by them not using the routes that made him successful. I expect a change in that as well. Look for him more along the sidelines and various post variations.

Hope so. If MLF and company can resuscitate MHJ's career it will go a long way toward having a respectable NFL offense.

the package, "12 personnel" is in regards to which players are on the field...not so much where they line up...exactly...
but anyway...we could send out 12....then put Love in motion, send him to the slot...
but the pass protection better hold up with the empty backfield, lol...
however..I think its a formation that would cause some serious issues for a lot of defenses.
its not a lot different than just running Love out of the backfield...except whoever is covering him has to commit prior to the snap...so the QB can see where the hole is in the defense..... McBride could see huge benefit from it.

Connor looked cooked before his injury though. And if the loss of your blocking TE wrecks your season, you aren't a good football team to start with.
Dude.
We wont be having any disrespect for the Tip.
Just the Tip, has devastated more lives than I can count. Put some respect on the name brother... Game got Game!

respectable?? Standards vary I guess.
However....assuming we get our run game back.....
we could very likely be rolling out a top 5 rushing attack...and having it compliment Mike Wilson, who came clean out of the closet as a legit WR1,...and Trey McBride...the concensus BEST TE in the entire NFL.....
and the unresuscitated Marv Jr,....as WR2
thats close to our worst case scenario at the moment...accepting Marv as WR2 regardless of where he was drafted.

okay, okay...Ill spit out some kool aid...top 10 rushing attack...
and that is still a solid NFL offense.

Offense should not be our problem this season.assuming we aint a MASH unit...our fate hinges on our defense and the fact we dont have a QB..... but the QB part wont even be an issue unless the defense steps up and becomes relevant.
