It's called being realistic Jeff. There is a great risk of this team quitting on DG if they haven't already. We have lost 2 games that we gave away. Two games that we should have had. We continually beat ourselves like the Cardinals have done for eons now. The Steelers or Cowboys or Patriots with a winning tradition could bounce back from two giveaway games but the Cardinals don't have that tradition. I love the Cards and I hope I am wrong but it just doesn't look good right now.

If they have quit on Green, then they have quit on themselves.......clearly Green had nothing to do with us losing the Rams game....and outside of the play call to try and run the ball successively on 2nd and short against the Chiefs, I would have to say the players lost this one as well.

DJ:

A one-point win at Philly and a three-pointer at Oakland, both with Jake Plummer behind center (during a season that the Cardinals were 4-4 ON THE ROAD). The Snake had his moments, didn't he? ;)

WC

He did. Wasn't that Philly game where we stole it with a late long TD pass?

Hard to believe that was the last competitive team we've had. We had the NFL's largest offensive line that year too. But they only gave up 29 sacks all season.

It could be that they have lost respect for him due to his CEO, distant, and aloof ways if he is actually that way. I dont know if he is or not but he is very distant on the sidelines except for a select few players from what I understand. If so it could be that the players have grown to resent this style and losing respect for him. It could be that it is a "if he has a complaint with any of us players why doesn't he have the gonads to call us in his office and talk to us face to face about it" sort of resentment that may be brewing in the lockeroom. What do I know? I hope not but speculating is free.

the bottom line is that the cardinals players have to exicute the plays that are called. they are not doing that. it is the same ole same ole for the cardinals. dropped passes, penalities and turnovers. that equals a losing season.

Monsters of the Midway

...will be coming your way. You can't run and you can't hide. No matter how you pick them apart, they're undefeated. I was there for '85 Super Bowl, and I knew Walter Payton personally, as my kids went to St. Viator's HS with his son. No...there will never be another '85 Bears, but the '06 Bears are creating their own legend. The truth will be told as the season unfolds, and yes, there are always "spoiler teams" that are like flies in the ointment, as Joe Thiesman states on the Dan Patrick show on ESPN radio. However, at this stage of the game, the fact is that a winner is a winner, no matter how pretty or ugly the win.....and the Bears have had both. Now, there are only two undefeated teams in professional football, and the Bears are one of those two teams. They have everything...the passing, the rushing, the defense. You beat us in preseason, but practice has been over for a few months. The Bears learned from defeat, and they learned well. As far as comparing Grossman and McMahon, the "***** QB", the one thing they have in common is fearlessness and guts. Even Favre in his heyday made major mistakes because he took risks...but most coaches would prefer a QB who isn't a spineless jellyfish, because even though being fearless will bring you more chance of error, it will also bring you more chance of success. Grossman isn't afraid of anything, nor was McMahon, and look where that fearlessness brought the Bears back in '85. As far as McMahon's talent...and don't get me wrong, I'm definitely a ***** QB fan....he was above average, but not great. Sometimes sheer guts will make your talents seem even greater, just because you racked up wins when they really mattered. Grossman is equally, if not more talented, but still needs more games under his belt to prove that with certainty. I think he will, because he's dauntless and hungry. Yes, many teams out there could muster all the strength and talent within them and with some luck could beat the Bears. We can talk again when that day comes. Could be Sunday, could be later, but it hasn't happened yet, and therefore the Bears deserve to be feared at least a bit, if reality has any place in your thoughts. I would definitely expect the Bears to fear every opponent they meet on the playing field, because when fear is no longer a factor, you lose......you sit on your freakin' throne and you lose. Happens every single Sunday, Monday, Thursday, whichever day of the week.

Listen toward the end for Thiesman's take on the '06 Bears.

1920-The Decatur Staleys shutout 10 of their 13 opponents in their first year of existence posting at 10-1-2 overall record. The team lost only once to the rival Chicago Cardinals 7-6.

Yes...the "Chicago Cardinals"....

...was pretty strange when they left town for St. Louis, and then how they bounced around. I was a kid when they left, but Chicago fans always remember "the other team", and of course, we always remember how the Bears played in Wrigley Field for most of their existence. That's where Sayers and Butkus and Ditka played.....Wrigley, currently home of the doormat of the National League. My football team rules, yet my baseball team is beyond pathetic.

Morgan Athletic Club, the Normals, Racine Cardinals, Chicago Cardinals, St.Louis Cardinals, Phoenix Cardinals, Arizona Cardinals....no matter what they call them they still suck!

Had a sign like that made up once. The SDS people wouldn't let me take it in the stadium though.

Um....actually "yes"....

I have. I'm the manager of a medical transcription department outside of Chicago, where grammar, spelling and format are of the utmost importance. I also have a liberal arts degree and have won awards for short stories and novellas. However, this is just a sports fan forum and I'm posting these thoughts while at work, so I really didn't see the need to "paragraph", nor do I have the time.

So here's a paragraph for you now, and I'm happy that you can read. Well, at least I think you can, but not sure since all you commented on was paragraphing. Did you find any "run-ons" or "dangling participles" during your grammar/format check of my postings? :)

I guess by "paragrahphs" you meant "paragraphs".

And I guess under your "location" that "Norh Little Rock" is equivalent to "North Little Rock". Just FYI, in case you didn't notice the spelling error.

Thanks for putting me back in the QA mode! :)

Blah, blah, blah. Come back and talk like this when you have beaten somebody. And Seattle doesn't count because both Detroit and the Cards should have beaten them.

I could have kids in college that haven't seen a good Bears team in their lifetime. I have more respect for the KC fans who were over here the past week than I do for bandwagon Bears fans. You guys come out of the woodwork, every 17 years or so, like locusts and proclaim their "greatness". You were great for one year, and it was 20 years ago. Big deal! Commador computers had a great year that year, but where are they now?

And by the way - award winning "novellaists" should know where the "enter" key is, no matter how fast they are typing.

If

you should have beaten Seattle, why didn't you? Don't see the Cardinals on the list of past Super Bowl winners either.

For you to label me a "Bandwagon Bear Fan" is pretty ignorant. I've gone to just about every home game, win or lose, good season or crappy season, since 1963. I saw Sayers and Butkus in their rookie seasons.

Every team has their bandwagon group, but I am not one of those fans who jumps on only when the team is doing well and then hops back off when they suck. Post '85 season, when the Packers were doing extremely well and we were not, many Chicagoans hopped on the Green Bay bandwagon. Note that I said "Chicagoans", not "fans". A real fan can complain and gripe about his or her team, but if they're a fan, they need to stay put and not abandon the "sinking ship". Fact is, the Bears have pretty much sucked since '85, and now they don't. Why in the world would Bear fans not be excited?

I'm a Cubs fan and always will be, regardless of what the White Sox did last year, and regardless of how pathetic my baseball team may be. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing anything White Sox, and definitely would not jump on their bandwagon just for the fact that they were winners last year and the "darlings" of the city of Chicago. When you're a fan, you're a fan through the wins, the losses, hell or high water.

No...I'm not a bandwagon person. Perhaps you stated that because you realized I'm a female and think that all of a sudden I just decided to jump up and shout "Go Bears". Not quite. I've frozen my Irish arse off sitting in the stands watching my team, pathetic, good or otherwise. It's called being a fan.

And who will win on Monday? Who knows? Could be the Bears, could be the Cardinals. No matter the sum of all the talent and physicality of a team, one very important and uncontrollable factor is "luck".

Don't change the subject wiseguy. Ah and you have never typo'd in your life have you? You should try a paragraph every now and then blog boy. It will be good for your health. Your profound wisdom is enough for all of us underlings and we should just be grateful to get it with no regard for ease of reading huh?

Don't blink when you look at the Lombardi Trophy or you'll miss the Bears entry. :D

I didn't mean to hit a nerve with the "bandwagon" slur, but it seems a little premature to compare this version of the Bears to the '85 vintage.

Our team has had nothing but bad luck this season. Some of it we brought upon ourselves, some of it is just the way the ball bounced. But as a Cubs fan, you know that drill. Sorry if we are a little touchy.

I, like you, hope for a good game on Monday and will be rooting for the home team. I am sure that you will root for yours, and may the better team win.

PS Thanks for the paragraphs, it really is easier to read.

I see where you are coming from Jeff.

The problem is our 53 atheletes are not as good as the Bear's 53 atheletes.

As for fans talking about switching players and positions ?

1. If you think Step deserves to be playing at Center then I don't know what to say about that, and he would be the only one I could back 100% that he should be move, tho others in my opinion should be.

2. WHAT THE HECK ELSE IS THERE TO TALK ABOUT? How badly our team played? I, for one, am tired of talking about this team, and how horrible they played. So I would like to see something changed or some effort to improve this team.

As for talking about trades. We are 1-5 and are not going to get into the playoffs. We have some trade bait out there, so why not use it.

Jeff you are a great fan, and as I said I respect your thoughts but some fans just want to talk about what could be done to fix the situation. I, like others, just don't like to stand there, look at the same B.S. we are putting out on the field week after week, and eat it.

Finally, who is this DecaturStaley jerk, and why is he talking smack about this weeks game? Nice to ruin a good thread talking about the current state of the team. Hey Jack@ss go to our smack talk forum and there will be plenty of people you can wiggle your @ss at. So please leave before someone bans you back to Chicago.
