That big sack on the 1st drive was not on the O line. The O line blocked what they were supposed to block.

There's two TE's lined up over Cam Jordan. In the image you can see McBride trying to block him but it was a half hearted effort. Either,

1, McBride is supposed to block him then leak out (which he does) giving time to Kyler to find him after the play action and he completely whiffed it or,
2, Reiman is supposed to block Jordan and got the play wrong, running a route instead.

The "Why did Petzing call run on 3rd and 20+" play that followed the sack. Well likely he didn't.

You can see here Kyler audibles and changes the play.

So, are you blaming Tip or McBride for that first play because the wording is confusing.

Cam Jordan is a savvy vet and completely ignored the play action. When McBride failed to even get a hand on Jordan that play was cooked from the beginning. That was all Jordan and there was nothing that Murray could do as he blindly turned into Jordan who did not bite at all on the play action.

Honestly no idea, it was either weak sauce by McBride or Reiman should have been blocking and ran a route instead which surprised Trey.

Logically it seems odd to have them both run routes when it seems one should be blocking, and you would think Tip would be assigned to block, but too many unknowns.

Or changing the protection. Do any of the WRs react here?

Nobody moves except the running back changes from where he is to Kyler's right.

Perfectly possible the play was designed to run to the right and Kyler just flipped it to the left.

Mike is open. Marv is open. Zay is open down field. Kyler has all day and runs it.

Just going to put this here for posterity because this is ALL the problem in one image. This is a still from the video above.

People are complaining Kyler runs because nobody is open and then giving him credit for getting something out of nothing.

Literally everyone is open. He has an age but doesn't move his head, doesn't scan the field. I have no idea why he isn't taking one of 3 great options and two lesser ones.

I know everybody in the world wants Marv to get the ball more but I really hope Kyler doesn’t hear too much of the noise to where he’s forcing it too much.
But we do need to find out...if he can force it to Marv like he did to Hop,...and like every QB we had for like 18 years did to Larry...
we rilly kinda need Marv to be that go to outlet and we wont know if he is until Kyler puts him in some bad situations

Lmao you’re right. That’s Zay Jones.

Wilson ain’t that damn fast.

Yeah though it was Mike at the bottom and Trey at the top, but it's Trey at the bottom and Tip at the top, knew the go route was Zay.

Yeah.
The Petzing actually designed a really good play here.

Here's the EZ angle of the same play. Does this look like a QB going through reads?

xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media

From the first angle I thought he was looking at Marv but from this angle it appears that he is looking at Jones.

Yeah that one is bad I think its Zay open at the 45 can't really tell but that throw is right there. Kyler got close about the 48 but the Wr would have got YAC on that play too. Gotta be a completion there

This is the 1st of Kyler's self sacks.

I don't really like the play design but then I don't like right handed throwers booting out to that side but we've ran this play before and Saints knew it. When we normally run this it's a pass to McBride in the flat and he get's another 5-6 YAC, but the DE drops off with McBride and blows it up.

But the 2nd option here is Marv. You'll see Marv fake out the CB and send up up field so he's uncovered but Kyler has already decided he's going to sack himself rather than having his eyes upfield. That's poor QB play for me.
