Perfect opportunity to step up in pocketHere's the EZ angle of the same play. Does this look like a QB going through reads?

petzing did this a couple few times - like we were still in training camp - "run it again offense - til you get it right!"The very next play Petzing says "Have a mulligan Kyler. Let's run the exact same play again".
This confirms it's a predetermined play to Trey. Everyone else is just working on their fitness.

option? their linebacker keyed in on conner - met him at the los - the db's saw it wasn't pass and made easy work of kylerNext play.
I don't know what happening here at all. It looks like a designed run for Kyler off PA but the whole O line blocks as if it should be handed off to Conner. The right tackle and right guard pull, the center and LG take position to block the pursuing DT and DE from their side. Nobody is in any position to block for Kyler, there's no lead blocker and all of the O line are on the wrong side to stop pursuit. Even Trey, who is on Kylers side of the run, is loafing as if the ball was meant to go away from him.
I have no idea what happened here. Lucky Kyler didn't get hurt.

The difference between those two plays is that on the first one Trey steps inside about a yard to fake a block or something. Almost looks like Kyler was firing to a "spot" where he expected Trey to be. On the second play Trey stops where Kyler was expecting.
Actually taking a closer look at it, it appears that this DL has his hand in the passing lane forcing Kyler to change his throwing angle:The difference between those two plays is that on the first one Trey steps inside about a yard to fake a block or something. it felt like the Saints defensive plan was to play the boot and take their chances with the handoff to the RB. On this play if you look at the moment of the handoff -- three defenders on the backside arent pursuing but are heads up waitingNext play.

This one was the one right here. Sat not too far from where Marv broke open. Could have chucked my $20 beer. This is the 1st of Kyler's self sacks.
I don't really like the play design but then I don't like right handed throwers booting out to that side but we've ran this play before and Saints knew it. When we normally run this it's a pass to McBride in the flat and he get's another 5-6 YAC, but the DE drops off with McBride and blows it up.
But the 2nd option here is Marv. You'll see Marv fake out the CB and send up up field so he's uncovered but Kyler has already decided he's going to sack himself rather than having his eyes upfield. That's poor QB play for me.

this might have been Kylers best rep all things consideredNext play. It's 3rd and 12 ish.
Not sure what happens on the protection here but the DE ends up unblocked. Four linemen on the right end up blocking 2 and Paris ends up with 2 on 1 and rightly takes the inside guy.
Kyler does well to see it right away, scramble up field and find Trey to convert.

I'm pretty sure QB's getting paid $55m a year (or any amount) are supposed to be able to see all their receivers from a clean pocket.
Unfortunately I am coming to the conclusion this has to be a Kyler thing.Very next play. There are a lot of plays like this in this offense.
Ball is snapped. Kyler stares down his 1st read and throws a quick pass for 4 yards. Not all of them are bad throws like this, obviously.
There was a lot of this with Kliff too, so do we think this is a Kyler thing?
He's under no sign of pressure. No need to rush the ball out. I want my QB's when clean to let the routes over 5 yards develop, not automatically take the 4 yard checkdown.
Pretty sure this pass was sloppy because of poor mechanics. At let those that know more than me like @Chopper0080 comment on that, but doesn't look right to me. Throwing off his front foot, his feet are level at release, body position looks poor. Doesn't look like 10,000 throws I've seen before.

I don't think it is a coincidence this is one of the very few times I ever remember him stepping up in the pocket.this might have been Kylers best rep all things considered
