It's only fair to wonder whether the Los Angeles Dodgers are actually going to be interested in trading for a guy like Tarik Skubal.

I say that because if the Dodgers feel they have a chance to land him in free agency this offseason, there's a scenario where it makes more sense to just wait for that to happen. I don't necessarily agree with that because this team is looking to go back-to-back-to-back, but I also don't think it's crazy to say the Dodgers want to hold on to some of their prospects to make other moves in the future.

Perhaps they're viewing this as a scenario to bring Skubal in and show him why he should re-sign with them in the offseason, but only time will tell on that front.

Regardless, it doesn't sound like the Dodgers are too worried about free agency, with the latest report suggesting they'll at least make a phone call to the Detroit Tigers about a potential deal.

“When it comes to the Dodgers, you always have to think big. Just look at the stars they’ve signed and traded for in recent seasons. Their roster makes them the heavy favorites to win their third consecutive World Series, and adding Tarik Skubal might put them over the top. With Skubal lingering on the market, the Dodgers will surely make a phone call to Detroit,” Robert Murray wrote.

As long as the Dodgers are in the mix and are willing to make that phone call to find out the price tag, I don't think it's fair to count Andrew Friedman out.

Friedman has continued to prove that he'll do whatever it takes to give the Dodgers a chance to win, and this would be doing so once again, perhaps almost guaranteeing that Los Angeles is going to win it all once again.
