BA was on ktar today and said he could have played DJ the second half of the season. It was a snippet so I don't know if anyone asked why he didn't.

Hey Bruce, if you could have played DJ, why did you choose not to?? You know maybe in the GB or Seattle game.

or at least have him active instead of Sowell, who's atrocious?

I thought Cooper was doing great. Not sure why he lost his job? Was it because he got injured again and BA was pissed he did?

Said he was confident in his 2 first round picks. No concerns about Cooper, and that Humphries was great. Could've played him the 2nd half of the season. Said he figures they will both be starters next year.

Of course, it may be more subterfuge...

Poor technique and couldn't stay healthy.

Perhaps. But via the eye test(mine) and all those crazy "metrics" being thrown all over the internet...Cooper played better than Larsen...

IIRC the coach said something about the mental part...ie...knowing all the line calls.............. but Coop was easily better than Larsen when he was on the field.

MJ had some good inside info yesterday about Cooper. He said that Cooper was so hyper-intellectual that he needed to be re-trained for each new game plan, even though components of the plans were the same or similar to the previous week's. MJ said the coaches got fed up with it.

That's the weirdest knock I've ever heard - too smart?

My guess is Larsen and a Larsen-esque RT gets brought in to compete. i doubt we spend more money on the line than that unless a top notch C becomes available. C might be the one spot the Cardinals will dump more money into on the offensive line.
I sure hope we look into upgrading the C position.

I am guessing here that somehow he came off like this.

Not knowing the calls would mean he wasn't the better option as offensive lines are built on continuity.

LT: Humphries
LG: Iupati
C: Alex Mack
RG: Cooper
RT: Veldheer
I thought it was funny people started talking about hump taking LT job when he was drafted. Find it even funnier right now. That's crazy talk

Pretty obvious we aren't going to invest any money in Massie with his DUIs and poor play. Larsen might be worth having around as a G/C backup with Shipley.

Both Humphries and Cooper are obviously being talked up to start next year. Sink or swim. And yeah, it is possible to overthink playing football just like anything else. "Too smart" probably isn't the right way to phrase it.

on offensive lines job is to block ...in which Cooper was far superior to Larsen

Well, that shows what you know. Blocking the wrong guy is the same as not blocking anyone at all. So, knowing the calls, and therefore whom to block, is probably the most important thing.

1) Humphries is not supplanting Veldheer. Just, no.
2) This team is not going to sink top dollar money into a center like Alex Mack.

I could easily see the team tagging Shipley as the starter next season.

That would be awesome if it turns out that way. It would mean (hopefully) that we upgraded the LT position or at least it was a push but vastly upgraded the RT position. I think Veldheer makes the Pro Bowl at RT. Of course that would be a big upgrade at C as well.

That would be an Oline that could take over games on a consistent basis.
