3 and 14 with him, 3 and 14 without him.

I'm not mad at him for asking for a raise though. I'd probably do the same thing if I was in his position.
I don’t fault JB in the slightest.

We are the only team in the league that would be in this situation.

Announcing a dude as the starter to save face for ******** the bed in FA. To not telling the guy that is your plan before hand then you can’t get him to play.

You seriously couldn’t tell someone this situation and have them believe it. They would say no professional team is that inept.

Monti getting played by an agent-less fringe starting/ backup QB w/ a career winning percentage of .273! What a clown…

I like JB, but he is tripping. However this is 60% Monti’s fault.

He sooo out of his league and worst GM in the NFL.
Monti sucks, but in no way is he getting played by Brissett. This is is the same team, record wise, with or without him. Might they be more entertaining with Jacoby? You can make an argument for that, but losing is still losing.

If Jacoby was an average to above average QB, then we could say Monti is getting played....but right now, it's just a stalemate of two losers and we're stuck waiting to see who will blink first.

I don’t believe this. What record do you think this team would have with Joe Burrow under center? With Sam Darnold?

Brissett might be the second- or third-worst player on a pretty talented offense.

The argument that this team could have a top 12-ish offense but only win 3 games is a total indictment of Monti because that means the defense he decided not to help remained in the league’s basement.

San Fran was sixth in points and fifth in yards in 2022 with Jimmy G, Trey Lance, and Brock Purdy starting games. That could be the infrastructure here.

Yeah, the Suns wrapped up their free agents ASAP when eligible.

Only the Cards would expect their starting QB to be happy to play making less than his backup.
He's only making a hair less and why is that? It's because he front loaded the 2 year contract into year 1. He made over $9m last year as a backup which was over 60% of the contract. It was structured in his favor if he only ended up being here for a year.

I'd argue he earned his $9 MILL by starting the last half of the year and played pretty well at that.

Just cut the bum and go with the rookie already
Aint happening.

Unless Beck absolutely has shown that he is the man Brissett stays.
I think the best case scenario is that Brissett gets his money and Beck rides the pine this season. Hopefully I'm wrong but I don't think MLF has a lot of confidence in Beck otherwise Brissett would have already been cut.

I'd argue that last year he was fulfilling his roll as a well paid backup. He played ok but still led the team to a 1-11 record. Just because he looked better than Kyler doesn't mean he was good.

Do you have a source on that $9 million number? Over the cap shows him as earning a little over $7 million last year, with $6.5 coming in salary and signing bonus.

His base salary for this season is $4.8 million. He can increase that to $6.8 million if he plays 65% of the snaps.

I'm going by his contract breakdown at spotrac. They have his cap hit for last year at the $6.5m but his cash at $9,060,000. That includes the $3.5 signing bonus which is what I believe is the difference we're seeing.

Yeah but do the math across the row and it doesn’t add up.
