I personally would have just traded Book at this point while he had premium value in order to accelerate the rebuild and get back missing draft picks. i'm hoping this present plan for basketball purgatory gets an update once it's apparent how far away this team is by mid-season. Right now is the right time to trade him, but with our ishues, that's not gonna happen until it's glaringly obvious.

Fair, but I do think he got an egregious amount of support, those teams were loaded inspite of him.

I know a lot of Laker fans who lament that Kobe couldn't get help after 2011, but he couldn't get help because no one wanted to play with him, even he and Pau (while they later became good friends in retirement) fueded.

My main point is that Kobe's mentality was a bigger hindrance than a help, they could have done more if he wasn't a prick and ball hog.

He may have played the best basketball of his life in that 2023 playoffs, but for a team that was thinned out by trade and injury and had no hope. It's also utterly insane to me that there are a lot who view his performance in that series as a knock on him.
