DRob still has the rest of this season to impress before I officially label him a bust. I’d be happy if he could get 5 sacks, but that feels kinda impossible at the moment.
Yeah, label the dude a bust after year 2 when it traditionally takes IDL guys 3 years to start producing.

Too early for bust but lets not make excuses. Kobie Turner and Braden Fiske immediately contributed and they weren't first round picks.

Very few people liked the Drob pick when it was made.

Hmm . . .

Will Anderson and Joe alt + we receiver drafted later or signed as free agent

Or

Paris, Darius, Elijah jones and MHJ
You are right - let’s hop in the Time Machine and fix the draft. Pick up mahomes while you are back there.

In the metaverse let’s say will anderson gets you one or two more wins- you’d miss out on Joe alt and then you are stuck with scrub McGee.

As a side note - I’m hoping MHJ proves you incredibly wrong over the next 10 years.

Undeniable- lack luster start.

What is tough is I am not sure why someone as incredibly bulky as drob and obviously with the speed to play edge at a high end in the collegiate level is struggling so much.

I’d be genuinely interested in people breaking down why he is struggling rather than everyone just piling on that he sucks. For the record - I’m still very hopeful that the light switches on for him soon- he has all the tools

I’m hopeful that the light goes on for him and have not given up on him. But as of now the stats do not lie and the projection doesn’t look good.

What I do not understand in this is the reporting from camp and actual production now.

This was not the typical fringe player hype. Everyone reported DR was causing havoc to the OL and looked a step ahead of the rest. Multiple videoes of him winning 1-1 against the OL. So what happened?

Maybe he was going up against Isaiah Adams a lot. That will make anyone look good.

That’s a false argument. It wasn’t PJJ or scrub McGee. That’s just a dumb statement. I’m saying what could have played out. It could have been alt. Or maybe it’s JC Latham or Olu Fashanu. The point is that just because we take Will Anderson doesn’t mean we can’t end up with a highly rated tackle a year later. Drafting Anderson doesn’t preclude us from signing or trading for a top tackle either. It’s the butterfly effect. With the drafting of Anderson it leaves monti still needing a LT. Is it realistic to believe he just settles for a scrub McGee, or attempts to upgrade the position with a trade, free agent or subsequent draft? The latter. So even that one or two more wins you propose likely ends up with us getting either a veteran, or top rated tackle in the draft that was likely rated evenly with pjj.

And you can crack jokes about a Time Machine, but I was calling for them to stick and make the Will Anderson pick at the time. So it’s not hindsight. That’s called foresight. Anderson was my favorite prospect in years. Take a look back and you’ll see my receipts.

He can’t seem to shed blocks.

Once again - it’s a silly game talking about a different multi year roster construct that is utilizing hindsight information. Ton of “ifs”- but sure it’s a message board so have your fun.

I said it originally - no denying will Anderson is excellent. Glad you liked him, a ton of us did- including me. My argument is that I’m not necessarily gloomy that we got a foundational left tackle performing at the highest level this poverty franchise has seen in some time.

Love that we got a franchise LT

I would take the gamble again based on Houston's record the previous year and starting a rookie QB. Huge fluke based on history.

If Houston wins one less game or doesn't win a playoff game - we are more like 19th and potentially picking Jared Verse.

Sometimes gambles don't pay off.

No one said you should be gloomy. I was responding to a statement that if we took Will Anderson we would be stuck with a bad tackle. And that argument simply carries no water.

What it looks like to me is bad hands which hinders his ability to disengage from blocks, an inability to find edges, and no real rush plan/counter.

And just like that DR makes two critical plays. Tackles McCaffrey on 3rd and puts pressure on Jones on 4th
And just like that, he was nowhere to be found as he and the rest of this pathetic mound of mediocrity got their ish pushed in by the Niners JV team down the stretch.
