LAFAYETTE — Two male swimmers finished with top five finishes at the IHSAA state championships while girls gymnastics sectionals brought high scores from various athletes in the Lafayette area.

The final week of the IHSAA boys basketball regular season capped a fiery finish in Seeger while Lafayette Jeff and West Lafayette each ended on high notes.

Which female gymnast and male swimmer or basketball player stood out?

Here are the Ivy Tech Journal & Courier Athletes of the Week nominees between Feb. 23 - 28.

Female Athlete of the Week nominees​

• Emilie Bullington, Tri-County, gymnastics - Bullington finished second in the all-around at the IHSAA sectional at Lafayette Jeff. Bullington finished with 35.25 points and placed second on beam, tied for sixth on the uneven bars and sixth on vault.
• Attalia Budreau, Benton Central, gymnastics - Budreau automatically qualified in the all-around for IHSAA regionals after finishing sectional with 33.675 points.
• Gabby Walker, West Lafayette, gymnastics - Walker finished as an automatic qualifier for regional in the all-around after scoring 33.75 points.
• Cordelia Hoffman, McCutcheon, gymnastics - Hoffman finished sixth in the all-around with 34.225 points for McCutcheon and qualified for regional.
• Avery Conrad, Harrison, gymnastics - Conrad finished with the best all-around score for Harrison with 34.1 points and helped the Raiders finished third in the IHSAA sectional and qualified for regional as a team.
• Marley Marcus, Lafayette Jeff, gymnastics - Marcus qualified for regional on vault with a score of 8.65 points.
• Olivia Overholser, Carroll, gymnastics - Overholser finished with 8.65 points on vault to qualify for regional.

Male Athlete of the Week nominees​

• Anthony Korchnak, Central Catholic, swimming - Korchnak, a signee to Ball State ended his stellar career at the IHSAA state swim and diving championships last Saturday and finished fifth in backstroke with a time of 50.25 seconds.
• William Armstrong, Fountain Central, diving - Armstrong finished fifth in the 1-meter dive at the IHSAA state championships with a final score of 420.80 points.
• Macyn Hughes, Seeger, basketball - Hughes finished with eight points including a halfcourt buzzer shot in overtime to beat North Vermillion 65-64 last Friday on the road.
• Calvin Snyder, West Lafayette, basketball - Snyder continued his strong finish to the regular season and scored 19 points with 10 rebounds to beat Rossville on the road 73-48 last Friday.
