Home runs, speed, soaring heights and a championship pitching gem highlight the performers up for the Ivy Tech Journal & Courier Athlete of the Week.
Below are the nominees and votes for the period between May 11-16.
Fans and readers can vote an unlimited amount of times until Friday at noon. Winners will be announced on Saturday morning.
∎ Aiden Humphrey, Harrison, baseball: Humphrey, a catcher for the Raiders, had to miss his senior season due to a heart condition. On senior night, Humphrey was allowed one at bat and hit a solo home run in a win over West Lafayette.
∎ Keaton Miller, Twin Lakes, baseball: The junior pitcher pitched a complete game shutout in the Indians' 2-0 Hoosier Conference championship victory over Western. Miller allowed four hits, striking out 10 and walking one.
∎ David Warner, Harrison, track and field: Warner won the pole vault at the City/County 4-way meet with a school record of 14 feet.
∎ Sydney Groves, Benton Central, softball: Grove hit a two-run walk-off home run in Benton Central's 6-5 win over Hamilton Heights.
∎ Lily Rockhold, Frankfort, softball: Rockhold's four-RBI game for the Hot Dogs in a 32-25 win over Attica snapped Frankfort's 65-game losing streak that dates back to May 2023. Rockhold went 2-for-2 with a triple.
∎ Cameron Schweigert, West Lafayette, track and field: Schweigert won both the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles at the City/County 4-way meet. She added a Hoosier Conference title in the 100 and was second in the 300 during the league meet.
