If the Cards dip into the collegiate market, the guy they should target is Dan Lanning from the University of Oregon. He was Saban’s recommendation to replace him at Alabama.
I like him but I am cautious on any college coach.

If we go college I'd give Curt Cignetti a try. Turned a perpetual 3 win Indiana team into a playoff team his first year, they're currently ranked in the top 10 this year with a 63-10 victory over a ranked opponent.

Sure Indiana doesnt have the talent to race with OSU yet, but its really rare to see those massive improvements from a school like Indiana. Turning THE basement dweller into a powerhouse is incredibly impressive. The main downside to him is he's really old.

His method to success seems to be talent evaluation, which might be able to translate to the NFL since the modern transfer portal is basically free agency. That and the unshakable confidence that only comes from experience.

Now I see the potential for a catastrophic failure too, but thats a given with any college coach.

So many big what if’s in this stupid franchise’s history but what if MB doesn’t force Arians into “retirement” because he thought BA was a bad influence on Bluto Keim? We get BA for 5 more years and have a ten year run of competence and he probably finds a young QB during that time.

Todd Bowles probably our coach right now too

Better be an offensive minded coach for sure, good with QB development. Keep Rallis for that side of the ball if possible.

Why does this conspiracy theory keep rearing its head? No one has ever posted any speck of evidence for it.

Nothing else makes sense. He was coaching a year later.
Based on interviews at the time it was my understanding they forced BA to retire due to his health.
I kinda got the impression they didn't want him to die on the sideline.
Had zero to do with him influencing keim.

That's the story they tried to sell but never made much sense.

Dude was diagnosed with cancer and as red as a tomato on the sideline
What doesn't make sense?
He collapsed during a game iirc...

Okay...no collapse...
Hospitalized for chest pains in august...then again in November...
Then diagnosed with kidney cancer in December...

That's a tough 4 months...and every reason for an employer...or a friend...to want him to hang it up

and both takes can have truth in them - health was an issue for BA and Bidwill didn't want his dominant personality sticking around, so never offered an option to keep him on in a reduced capacity like they did in Tampa. BA and that success were the first thing Keim and Bidwill did when they took control, so they were likely high on their perceived abilities, not aware of how truly lucky they really were with BA.

I like rallis, but that's a hard one to keep around if all of his friend group gets kicked to the curb.

warning: total fourth-hand or more info.

i had heard the Arians drinking had gotten out of control and was the source of both his health issues and other frictions amongst him, Keim, Mike.

BA took a year off and cleaned himself up.

in retrospect -- this is rich given Keims subsequent behavior. Also - one has to consider that this explanation would be very self-serving to Keim/Mike as well in explaining why he ran off the most successful coach in recent team history only to watch him come back and win a SB.

all that said -- it does kind of explain some things.

Klayton Adams, your next AZ Cardinals Head Coach in 2027.
nah...
I am a huge Klayton Adams fan...I was lamenting his departure even before the draft when so many thought losing a line coach was no big deal.
But due has 3 years NFL experience...and less than a full season as an offensive coordinator.
the man needs to season.... promoting him to a HC position this soon would just "Peter Principal" him right out of the NFL.
