Cardinals Sign Two Cornerbacks

Tempe, Arizona—Veteran cornerbacks Robert Tate and
Dyshon Carter have signed one-year contracts with the
Cardinals.
A veteran of six NFL seasons as a defensive back and
kick returner with Minnesota (1997–2001) and Baltimore
(2002), Tate owns career totals of 135 tackles, 3
interceptions, and 22 pass deflections from scrimmage,
54 kickoff returns for 1,222 yards (22.6-yard average)
and one touchdown on special teams. Originally a
sixth-round selection by the Vikings in the 1997 NFL
Draft after a college career at the University of
Cincinnati, Tate’s early pro career featured
multi-dimensional talents at wide receiver, defensive
back, and as a punt and kickoff returner.
Carter entered the NFL as a free agent with Cleveland
in 2001 following his role as a four-year starter at
Kansas State which saw the Wildcats post a 42–7 record
over this four years, including three bowl wins. After
five games with the Browns in 2001 and three weeks on
New England’s practice squad in 2002, he started four
of 10 contests for the Scottish Claymores of NFL Europe
in the spring of 2003 and recorded 28 tackles, 5 pass
deflections, and 1 pass interception.
