How many of those teams have defensive-background coaches as their HC?

Gannon is getting away with a lot here because everyone wants to get rid of Kyler ASAP.
There’s literally a stickied thread calling to fire Gannon on the top of this page. Methinks that’s not really “getting away” with much . . .

Cause you’re choosing not to.
That’s a silly statement. I don’t care what other people’s opinions are. Please quote me a “celebratory” or “happy” post that’s something other than an observatory poat. I think YOU’RE the one doing some mental gymnastics guessing people’s emotional responses to the game.

So you think this loss all of sudden took the heat off Gannon here? I’m questioning your reading comprehension skills.
Ouch… you gotta remember you’re talking to someone who despite what he says, is still carrying a flame for Kyler and will consistently find ways to deflect for him. When he finally broke and admitted we had to move on, he told us how important it was to DVontel that he would have loved to see Kyler succeed and be a role model for his community. And I get it. But he’s obviously still coming from that defensive place of firing back at criticism, especially because he likely mocked so many, for pretty ugly reasons at times, for their genuine criticisms of Kyler.

Basically, old habits die hard.

Refusing to see that most of the reactions have been celebrating Jacoby’s play compared to JG’s defense playing bad is comical. Literally just backspace this page.

Genuine question.

Are you & Ouchie blood brothers or something?

Why is it that Ouchie & I have a conversation, you come in with the Superman cape?

Same goes for you, but when he puts on the Superman cape on for you, he does it about 16 hours later.

what is really clear:

when an opposing offense really needs it, they can get it.

The defense feels like a mirage -- low points per game as a function of playing a bunch of bad offenses.

Six games the D was asked to get a stop to win a game (5 times) or get into OT (1)

Four times they didn't get the stop to win or go to OT -- and frankly in those four times the opposing offense made it look pretty easy.

Once a receiver had the ball in his hands in the endzone to tie --

Only once did they stop the other team outside the redzone.

I missed the game, and I also must be missing something the box score isn’t showing…. 2tds/1 bad int… 61% completion rate… threw the ball 44 times which was more than kyler in any game the season (and more by 9+ attempts in all but 1 game ans 13+ in all but 2 games). Our WR1 didn’t flash (did he get injured, I didn’t watch).

These look like very solid stats for a backup QB.. but got the L and a bunch of yards with a bunch of attempts and a mediocre completion percentage.
MHJ got another concussion. :(

You know how hated Kyler is(I understand) when the fanbase is happy despite the loss because of Jacoby’s performance & not the defense being awful with a defensive-background HC lmaooo

I feel like until today the D was pretty good. We had a depleted DL today and one of the best RB's in the NFL took over the 2nd half. we were playing 3 and 4 safeties much of the time it seemed and Taylor just took it to us

Disappointing but there's still reason for some hope on defense.

I think we again saw the problem with the run game is the OL top 2 RB's combined 20 carries 68 yards 3.4 YPC, Emari got 1 carry in an obvious passing situation and only got 1 yard due to bad blocking. 21 carries 69 yards from the RB's, the only guy who averaged more than 3.8 was Brisett. If Emari is hurt, I expect Jefferson to get called up next game. Knight got more reps because of his pass blocking, he did ok had a nice TD and had a nice catch and run for 20. I expect he'll get more carries next week. But there's not much to get excited about on offense.

Unless we win the next 2 games , which is very unlikely, the season is totally over. I expect to see Marv out next week.

And that’s not counting the numerous times last season when it needed a stop it couldn’t come thru.

I said it last week & will continue saying it…coaching scared football is losing football, especially in the NFL. Your coordinators have to be aggressive (within reason) & that conservative approach starts with JG & his philosophy.

All of the above is magnified when most games come down to 1 score games.

Against zone.

Brissett threw a pass behind him, sure, but that CB was still draped all over Marv.

Marv was still like the 4th/5th most targeted player in that 1st half for a reason despite switching QBs.
Brissett probably has a lot more practice reps with Jones & Dortch than with Harrison.

Defense picked a fine time to play its worst game since last season

I just don’t think they’ve been in the position to play a worse game. The ineptitude of the offense kept games close.

This is the truth. Often, opposing offenses are just going to score as many points as they need to win. Because our offensive production has been horrific, the bar was set very low. You get an artificially reduced PPG.

The mark of a a good defense is that they hold the opponent when needed.

There is no doubt in my mind that the Colts could have scored 40+ if the game required.

does anyone really doubt that had the Cards scored on 4th down that the Colts would have used the 56 seconds and single time out to get a tying FG?

i would have liked to have seen it, but still......

I would have been surprised if they didn’t get all the way down for a game winning touchdown.
