The Round of 16 is set. Today, the matches begin as co-hosts Canada face Morocco, followed by Paraguay taking on France.

Canada arrived in the Round of 16 for the first time ever, defeating South Africa off a late goal. They are hoping they can continue to be “Canadian heroes” and take out a Morocco squad that beat the Netherlands on penalties. Morocco is hoping to be the team they were four years ago that went on an inspired run to the semifinals. That creates an opportunity for both teams to reach the quarterfinal round through an open match.

In the second game, Paraguay are the upstarts who defeated Germany to reach the Round of 16. But they go up against France, a team who seems to be the best team in the tournament thus far. Paraguay would need to once again play its best game to take out a team that has reached the final the past two World Cups and won in 2018.

The Round of 16 is here on USA’s 250th birthday!
