The reaction to the A.J. Brown trade has depended largely on geography. In the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia Eagles fans have moved on. They're in many ways satisfied that someone who didn't want to be a part of the roster no longer is. They believe DeVonta Smith is more than capable of stepping into a bigger role and that there are more than enough pieces to fill in the gaps that were once behind him.
In and around Boston and Foxborough, the debates are about whether Howie Roseman received enough compensation for one of the most talented receivers in franchise history. Many New England Patriots fans are celebrating the arrival of a proven star who should immediately become quarterback Drake Maye's top target.
Not everyone in Boston is thrilled, however.
NBC Sports Boston's Michael Felger recently weighed in on the blockbuster deal, and his assessment probably sounded a lot different than what Patriots fans were hoping to hear. Felger didn't question Brown's talent. Instead, he questioned the cost. The Patriots surrendered a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round selection to acquire Brown from Philadelphia.
While many viewed that as the necessary price of landing an elite receiver, Felger saw things differently. "I think it's an overpay," he said.
