Usually in the past, although it isn't official, when talking MVPs or ROYs, most people vote by making the argument that a player who helps his team make the playoffs is more worthy than one who's team doesn't. That would seem to put Amare a leg up on the competition, wouldn't it? Yao's team missed the playoffs, so it could be argued Amare helped his team more. I don't remember when voting occurs for ROY, but in the old days it was after the playoffs started and they always said that voters SHOULD NOT take playoff performances into consideration when voting, but they always seemed like they did.
