On Monday, Yankees fans were told there was no timetable for the return of injured star Giancarlo Stanton. Just a day later, manager Aaron Boone is clearing up confusion.
Stanton has been on the injured list with a right calf strain since April 28, a timetable that was delayed when he experienced a setback in June.
MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch reported via X on Monday that “Giancarlo Stanton isn’t close to returning” in a post that has 1.7 million views and was written after Boone told reporters Monday there was ”no timeline” for Stanton to play in minor league games.
Boone made his regular appearance on Jomboy Media’s Talkin’ Yanks podcast on Tuesday and denied the report and clarified the point he was trying to make on Monday.
“Someone in our front office came to me and said everyone was reporting he’s not close, that’s not true,” Boone said. “He’s actually doing well, and I think will be back in a reasonable amount of time.”
“Someone in our front office came to me and goes, ‘Did you tell the media that [Stanton] wasn’t close?’ I’m like, ‘No, I just said I don’t know when it is,’” Boone added. So I think people assumed that it’s gonna be this long time, which I don’t anticipate it’s going to be too long.”

Stanton has resumed his running progression after a recent calf strain.
In the 24 games Stanton has played this season, he has three home runs with a .256/.302/.422 slash line. With him and three-time MVP Aaron Judge out of the lineup, the Yankees’ offense still holds the sixth-highest OPS in MLB but. The Yankees are 1.5 games back of the division-leader Rays.
