At #3 they are likely to pick from Fields, Lance, and Mac Jones. simple poll, what are the odds they get a QB that is top half of the league for a decade given this years draft layout

49ers-Dolphins...Kyle Shanahan trying to control his own fate. You trade up to 3 for a QB who is NFL-ready right now, not a project. And to me that says Mac Jones.

I dont think they will go Mac Jones but its a possibility. I bet they go Fields and he's out of the league or a backup in 5 years

Some people on this board really don't understand how good Kyle Shanahan is.

I’m not saying hes not a good coach... His teams clearly show that he is overall… But can you show the list of quarterbacks that he’s developed into bona fide stars? Matt Ryan was good long before he got to him. He clearly hasn’t shown that he can make Jimmy Garoppolo better?

It's ironic that he is connected to Matt Ryan because he is the Matt Ryan of coaches.

A great running game.
A top 5 offensive mind as a HC.
#1 or #2 TE.
Nice top 2 WR's.

This kid will have to fall flat on his face to fail IMO. Like, Rosen bad IMO.

So...
Ehhh.... the only long term good QB in that group is Ryan and he was a good QB prior to..... If he’s such a damn good QB whisperer/coach why couldn’t any of them go on to be Matt Ryan type of careers? I mean did he develop them or not to be really good QBs? That list says no.... to me....

That doesn't even factor in what his offense does for RBs. I don't know how many NFL coaches I would take over him.

He gets to Houston as the youngest OC in the NFL and turns Matt Schaub into a 3000 yard passer and then a 4000 yard passer in the two years he is there.

Goes to Washington...makes Rex Grossman into a viable NFL QB and then coaches RGIII to the only two good season he has ever had in the NFL.

Goes to Cleveland and gets fired because he won't start Johnny Manziel.

Goes to Atlanta and the team goes from 6-10 to 8-8 to 11-5 and losing in the Super Bowl. Matt Ryan has the best season of his career. Falcons have had one winning season in the four since he left.

Since going to San Francisco, the one year Jimmy G played all 16 games they went to the Super Bowl.

i’m not really buying what you’re selling considering the long-term success of those quarterbacks after being with him.... On top of the fact that they have Jimmy Garoppolo and are still trading up to get away from him.... Shouldnt his coaching have fixed whatever issues they see with him that they feel the need to move on? It’s not like he’s old.... A good coach yes. A bona fide QB whisperer?? Meh

Agreed - if he is magic with QB's, why does Immy G on shaky ground? Why then isn't Rosen the starter?

And even if he is a QB whisperer, if the QB that you are whispering too isn't that good, or doesn't listen, it doesn't matter.

I think a QB whisperer doesn’t necessarily build a great QB - they still have to work with the materials they’re given. Even the greatest sculptor can’t build a skyscraper outta 10lbs of clay. Rather what a QB whisperer does is coax the maximum payload from the talent that exists with each QB. Difficult to argue shanahan isn’t exactly that given what chopper has laid out.

If he has sculpted so well why did they diminish upon leaving? People don’t just forget what they’re taught.... Again if he’s so good at it why the urgency to move on from Garoppolo? Who league wide many have considered a top flight talent including the 9ers who just paid him a 100+ million dollar contract? He hasent really groomed a young talent for long term success... that’s hard to argue regardless of Choppers findings.

Jimmy G has been just fine, when healthy. He has won a lot more than lost when starting for the 49ers. Unfortunately, he's not been able to stay on the field.
