Assuming there's no way to get Mendoza take the best player on the board which for me is Bain but I would be ok with Bailey too if the cards like him.

Can't go in locked on a position just take the best player we have so many holes we need to get an impact guy.
Yep, a future star is a must at 3.

I can't sign on.

Trading out of the Will Anderson pick was a terrible trade in the moment and it only looks worse and worse.
We’ll see when Bain & Bailey hit the Combine. Anderson had major skills and few weaknesses. These 2 both have questions to answer. They are likely the top 2 choices if the Cards stay at 3. It is not yet clear they are worthy of that status. It’s very early to make this call. No need to rush.

This is my evergreen draft tweet

somewhere in the top part of the draft is a cutoff between blue chip and something just below that. If you have a chance to trade down and stay in the blue chip range -- do it
That’s a wise position until the Cards are able to draw that line. Ossenfort is under pressure (somewhat unfair considering Nolen) to come out of this draft with a star. Tough draft to find sure things after the first pick.

That’s nice of you to assume I’m not educated on them but I’m very familiar with all of them.

Reese was up and down this year. Plenty of games where he was a complete non factor and blue chip top 5 prospects don’t disappear like that

Fano is good but he’s not a franchise top 3 pick tackle. Very solid 5-10 range probably if we trade back. Like I said good but not great

Bain has been blue chip from day one he’s the most consistent and he’s a monster and on top of that we have Sweat and Nolan coming back we could really build a serious pass rush here.
Ok. I guess we will see.

yes

but a hypothetical: If at three you can trade down to 5 with good compensation and the guarantee that one of Bain, Bailey or Reese will be there to take: I do it.

Obvs that rests on the assumption that by draft time, Bain, Bailey and Reese are all viewed as similar prospects.

In many ways, this as similar to the MHJ, Nabers, Odunze debate in the 23 draft -- and I took the same POV then.

This is what I'm thinking. However, a new head coach might think otherwise depending upon how he views the personnel.

Depends on who is drafting. I'm not trusting the Cardinals front office to make the right decision with an early pick.

Trey McBride, arguably their best player, was drafted in the 2nd round and Michael Wilson in the 3rd round. Paris Johnson was drafted at #6 but he might be an outlier. Can't miss on all your picks.

Some other picks like MHJ and Nolen, the jury is still out on. We saw who the Cardinals drafted #1 overall.

Wonder if I'm the only one to think Nolen looked out of shape.

Maybe the Cardinals should find the best scout out there and pay him a few million dollars to draft for them.

Doesn’t matter. The Cardinals do not have a good culture and a system set up in place to develop talent. Developing talent is just as important as talent.

Some teams seem to never miss and some always miss there is a reason for that

That limits his destinations to Minnesota and Atlanta.
Edit: And maybe Miami, if you stretch the definition of "contending".
2nd Edit: As others have pointed out, Indianapolis is also a possibility.

It will be great for the Cardinals if there's interest from multiple of these teams!
Ime some chatter about KK getting interviews for HC job "cant remember" which one may be a KK and K1 reunion could happen if he actually lands a HC job

Depending on the package, I’d be open to it. It doesn’t feel like this draft has a no brainer prospect like Myles Garrett or Nick Bosa.
Tricky. Before this season it looked like Bailey didn’t like to set the edge. Especially in the second half of this season he started to step up and assert himself. It transformed him to a complete player. Bain is a brawler. However, he has worked hard to develop moves. He’s a more complete player now. I’ve written about his issues. All players have some. I still think he’s similar to Zach Allen, though likely significantly better. With his motor it’s hard to see him failing to be a contributor.

the 2 most likely stars in this draft, non QB, are Love and Downs and nobody wants anything to do with them.
this is so true

Bijan Robinson went #8, and in a re-draft, probably goes higher than that (and Jahmyr Gibbs, taken at 12)

not sure Love is a like Bijan, but its also not a good of a draft

Why? It may not always reflect football prowess, but judging athleticism is valuable.
Shouldn’t scouts know this before the combine? I guess what I’m thinking I worry more about what they did on the field. No?

If the QBs go one / two, is there really a player that warrants picking at 3. Feels like a bit of a drop off. Wouldn’t be disappointed if MO trades down no lower than 6-7 range pick up a couple picks to go get Simpson in bottom of R1 or other needs and get QB with R2 pick. Of course if we are super aggressive at filling holes with OL and other spots it would give us real flexibility. MO needs to hit FA out of the park this year no more BS.

Field is dominant, but sometimes you get big surprise at Combine.
