He showed IMO that there is a good chance that he develops into belonging in the NFL. Time will tell if that means starter, fringe starter/quality back-up, journeyman back-up or 3rd stringers.

Was it against scrub players? Sure, but he was also playing with “scrubs”. It’s just a preseason game but boy is this what you want to see as opposed to the opposite.

Before JB got paid, I thought if Beck genuinely dominated every preseason game it at least gives him a shot to start day 1. Will be interesting to see if he keeps it up. Surely this game was a huge confidence booster for him.

I wonder if the coaching staff will start him if they genuinely feel like he gives them the best chance to win games. Considering how Mike’s brother didn’t rush Jordan Love onto the field I’m guessing the answer would be no.

And again, I know it’s preseason, but dang the touch on that back corner TD pass was insane.

Exactly. It is all relative. It was scrubs against scrubs, but he did stand out. The failure rate is so high with QBs and he showed that there might be something there. What that something is remains to be seen.

On a lighter note: You couldn’t have asked for a better intro from Beck. He looked like a veteran with his poise, decision making and accuracy. He did not look or sound scared of the moment.

I still think it’s doubtful that he’s QBoF material, but at least he showed that it’s not completely hopeless

He was also reading the D, albeit on a lesser level than a regular game

It was nice that the all these backup receivers were catching the ball when given the opportunity

We'll see if he can keep this up

Beck started for the Cardinals in the first preseason game of the NFL season.

He showed up and showed out.

Beck played a little more than a half, completing 15 of 19 passes for 188 yards and a touchdown. He hit Reggie Virgil for what would have been a big gain on his final throw of the night in the third quarter, but Isaiah Simmons knocked it out.

He directed scoring drives of 96, 50 and 61 yards, throwing a 5-yard fade to a well-covered Simi Fehoko for a touchdown on the team’s second scoring drive.

The Cardinals were tied with the Panthers 17-17 when Beck left with 10:15 remaining in the third quarter.

Fourth-stringer Kedon Slovis replaced Beck.

the throwing motion is a little side-army, but it comes out quick

the optimist in me hopes that a year removed from UCL work + NFL level QB mechanics/fundamentals instruction might mean the Cards have found something here

I HATED him as a NFL prospect. Probably guarantees his success in the NFL
