Summary: The story of Cason Henry joining the Cards this offseason may not be the most exciting, but it could be considered one of the most important. With Henry being pursued by more than a handful of other programs, the lineman from South Carolina was a big target for the Cards because of the big “P”. Stay focused goons, I’m talking “potential”.
The reason the phrase “you’re best ability is your availability” gained notoriety, especially in sports, is because a stud who can never play is of little value to the team. Henry has fought through knee injuries, shoulder injuries, and a few “undisclosed injuries” that have have kept him wearing sweatpants on gameday the last few years. So why go and grab a guy who has a history of dents and dings? The guy is really good. As a true freshman Henry played a few games but was noticeably gaining attention from the staff as he traveled every road game, and picked up a couple scout teams awards early. Then injuries in 2023 set him up for a complete season in 2024 at right tackle where he played the entire year. Ready to bust out last year Henry started the first four games, and then was sidelined again before hanging up the cleats in 2025 a couple weeks later. So close to making a name for himself on the field once again.
In the Spring his shoulder was still not 100% so his reps were limited, doing only individual drills during the workouts. If, and it may be the biggest if of the summer, he can remain healthy Henry is a Day 1 starter at RT who can eat up significant snaps. For reference I checked his Offensive Grade (87.0) and Pass Block grade (85.7) in PFF last year. While it’s dishonest to not consider the snap count in that analysis, if I filter all tackles who played at least 50 pass blocking snaps, Henry was ranked as a Top 10 player in 2025. Cason is a big get for the Cards who are not only investing in his future…but also heavily investing in bubble wrap.
