Takeaways from #AZCardinals RB Tyler Allgeier: - “I felt like it was good. The front office has their reasons” on drafting Jeremiyah Love. Says competition and depth is needed. “It’s probably the best thing you can do” in terms of having a deep room.

- Watched the draft live. Called the pick exciting and says Mike LaFleur called him after the pick. Respects the communication and “I knew what I was getting into.”

- Didn’t have flashbacks to ATL after the pick. Called him and Jeremiyah Love close on and off the field.

- “There’s no point in being a jerk about it” on why his mentality is the way it is.

- Loves how LaFleur’s run game fits his style.

- Has shown Love the ropes on the field and Love is always asking questions on and off the field as a rookie. - Really wants to focus on improving as a pass catcher, cites winning one on one battles.

Cardinals RB Tyler Allgeier on welcoming Jeremiyah Love: "There's no point being a jerk"

It's the second time in Allgeier's career that his team has used a high first-round pick on a running back.

As a rookie with the Falcons, Tyler Allgeier ran for 1,035 yards — and then the Falcons used the eighth overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft on running back Bijan Robinson. This year, Allgeier left the Falcons for the Cardinals in free agency — and then the Cardinals used the third overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft on running back Jeremiyah Love.

Allgeier says he’s fine with that.

Talking to reporters for the first time since Love’s arrival in Arizona, Allgeier said he’s doing everything he can to help the rookie acclimate to the NFL, even though he knows Love is being groomed as the starter and Allgeier will get a lesser role in the offense because Love was drafted.

“It’s not like there’s any bad blood, we’re just building that relationship and we’re pretty close right now,” Allgeier said. “There’s no point in being a jerk about it. That’s not going to get you anywhere in life, in this business, in this sport.”

Allgeier said he knows the Cardinals drafted the player they think can most improve the team, and he embraces that.

“The front office has their reasons and I think it’s another weapon on the offensive side. I think it was a great pick, great player, great competition in the room,” Allgeier said. “I knew what I was getting into.”

Perhaps that shouldn't be a surprise. Here's an excellent stat, courtesy of The Athletic Football Show: Last season, the Rams (where LaFleur was the offensive coordinator) threw to a wide receiver in motion 133 times. The Cardinals, under Drew Petzing, did so just 18 times.

Glad he's apparently healthy but I still don't see much role for him unless they use him returning kickoffs.

He can't be the 3rd down RB because Love is the better receiver, Allgeir and Conner will be short yardage and goalline RB's so his role is going to be limited
