idk what to expect from beck - some are bothered by the injury - some don't like the attitude - some don't like the picks at the end of big games

i get the injury and i get the attitude but idk about those interceptions - some qbs are more than comfortable gambling at the end of games because it's the end of the game

if they're losing and know there isn't enough time to get the ball back on offense they gamble - every smart qb does it because it's literally their last/only opportunity to win the game

they aren't afraid of throwing the pick they're afraid of time running out - so they throw it to receivers they trust most hoping for a miracle

im not a beck guy - no delusions of grandeur there - im not a brissett or a minshew guy - pretty sure im a open qb competition guy - most heart least suck guy

jacoby brissett is 33 - in cardinal years that means he's 28 because we always get players 5 years too late - all im saying is brissett won't age out/retire in the next few years - if everything somehow magically clicks he's still got some time

if brissett continues to (albeit beautifully) fail we will be off to a horrible start with no end in sight but like the zen master says who knows

A lot of Beck’s picks were good decisions but bad ball placement and timing. It’s like he was expecting the ball to arrive faster than it did. If he has regained his power from a couple years ago, I think those balls arrive a smidge earlier or are thrown a bit further and they’re completed instead of picked. We will see. His difficulty rifling the ball downfield quickly seemed to be more of a concern than his decision making, from my own armchair-YouTube watching perspective. If that zip is back, he should be ok.

I would not give Brissett a new contract since he is not their future. He is a journeyman at best. Go with Beck and see what he can do. If Beck is not the answer, they get a high first-round pick to use for a quarterback in the 2027 draft.

Beck will play eventually. No reason he needs to start week 1.

There is serious concern internally that Carson Beck has the same deficiencies that were extremely obvious if you watched him in college.

But if its even close, then every player on the squad would understand going with the rookie...theoretically he will improve and be a better QB in week 14 than he is in week 3....and we are working towards having a solid starter for the next 10 years of their careers and not just this season

Well... here is how I think it will play out.

It will NOT be close, however, we WILL be bad, and the calls to give Beck a shot will come early and come loud, and I think they would be better off resisting those calls until we're well out of it because it's going to be hard to step back from it if he's utterly horrendous.

Maybe I am wrong, and Beck does have starter potential, even then, they should wait. The early schedule is brutal and IMO, young QBs getting defeated or punch drunk is a real thing.

It's not a matter of paying JB or starting Beck. I'd be fine with trading/cutting JB, starting the season with Minshew, then moving on to Beck to see what we have.

I can appreciate the way he might feel, but realistically where would he go? Miami? NYJ? Pick your disaster! Keep in mind the Chargers ended up with Phillip Rivers by trading Manning. They also got the Giants 2004 3rd plus their 2005 1st & 5th. There’s no obvious NYG to trade with. I’m not even certain Manning is the best fit for MLF’s offense. Moore would seem a better pocket passer. If the Cards finish first I’m okay with trading him to one of the above letting the Cards take Moore and a 2028 top pick. Let Manning make that happen. The NFL is far more powerful than they were in 2004. They are now the unquestioned premier sport. I think the Mannings will find they have much less leverage.

It was only a few days ago that Eli finally told the story about how it was fully and completely his own decision to reject the Chargers, and I doubt that he has the power to order his nephew to do the same. Also, if it became an option, I bet it would be attractive to the entire Manning-family to revive the Manning-to-Harrison connection. It would have a special ring to it.
