Kind of strange how many fans think they can just decide to trade down, no matter what other teams want. We all know how it works, and I am not sure there is anyone that others want to trade up for. Maybe Reese.

Since the thread is about quarterbacks, I would not be shocked if Cardinals and Vikings made sort of a non-trade trade where Murray goes there and McCarthy comes to the Cards. He was awful last season, but it’s not like he is broken beyond repair, and his style of playing is a good fit in LaFleur’s (presumed) offense. Would be sort of an attempt of redemption.

It’s just that they are handling the QB situation very weird. That is likely just because of incompetence, but I do wonder if there is something else coming. Most likely that feeling is because I want it to be that way, though.
Gauranteed there will be teams looking to trade up for the #3 pick. Look to Dallas. They own 12 and 20. They are just the team to move up for Love or Downs or Bailey or Reese, none of which will be available at 12.
If that were to happen we could take Simpson at 12 and dl or ol at 20.
Plus Dallas would have to throw in a 2nd round.

That would be a decent trade assuming we can land Simpson at #12. Dallas doesn't have a 2nd rounder this year so it would have to be 2027 draft. I'm not sure if Dallas would give 12, 20 and their 3rd rounder this year. As we get closer to the draft, Simpson may move up other teams draft boards so #12 might not do it.

In the past, I've said we need an impact player at #3 and get someone like Beck in the 3rd/4th. Today, I'm shifting and thinking Nurrmeier might be a better fit. But, if MLF feels Simpson is the guy, I see no problem having him sit behind Brissett and Minshew for a year. If Brissett is playing well but we're out of it by the trade deadline, I suggest we trade Brissett and let Minshew run 1st team until the end of the season then switch it up for Simpson to see what he has. Hopefully he shows enough that we don't have to draft a QB in 2027. If not, we will be in a position to get one of the top guys next year.

I’m not clear what you think Brissett is. Because this exercise says you think he’s as good as Kyler Murray at his best. That’s obviously absurd.

Well, you clearly haven't been listening in that case.

He's a solid backup who had a good season last year. It just happens that he's the best option available in a sea of bad to middling options.

That’s why it’s so sad he’s a starter. We have three mid to bad backups with zero upside.

I'm sure that if you complain enough Monti will get onto Build-a-QB and order up a good one for you.

It takes some cajones to be having this argument when your solution is Zach Wilson or Trey Lance.
You understand that this is a message board.

The solution to having no hope at the QB position is to add some small hope.

Our top 2 QBs will be a combined 63 years old when training camp opens.

It takes some blinders to believe there’s nothing left in Trey Lance/JJ McCarthy/Zach Wilson/Anthony Richardson/Will Levis when this guy is the reigning Super Bowl champion:

you got your dank - your mids and your trash

you smoke mids while trying to score dank - how the world works

what you don't do is over pay for mids when next year's harvest is supposed to be dank - this is pothead 101

Skelton went 8-9? Wow, I did not realize that.
More obscure facts.

Drew Stanton went 11-6 as a starter for the Cardinals.

He played 14 seasons in the NFL. Bruce Arians picked him up in 2020 after he'd been a free agent all year, elevated him to the active roster for the Super Bowl, so he won a ring with the Tom Brady led Bucs.

Yup but the 1-5 run at the end of 2012 was bad enough to get him banished from the NFL forever.

Brissett’s 1-11 run (2-15 going back to 2024!) is enough to make him the 2026 starting QB for the Arizona Cardinals.

We didn’t have the option to draft Eli. Denny wanted Fitz over a QB that year.
Doh. That's right. Eli refused to play for the Chargers and would have also refused to play for us, not that it mattered at the time. Fitz was the pick all along.

I hope I'm wrong, but I've got this feeling that the Cards are gonna pull a shocker and pick Ty Simpson at #3. If we start hearing how much LaFleur likes the kid and people start talking about him going in the first half of round one...look out.
I think so too. It’s painful because Dwight Freeney 2.0 is going to be right there for the taking in David Bailey. Have you seen his spin move? Incredible.

Personally I would draft Love. Imagine Gibbs on this team because he appears to be that kind of guy.
Another guy that’s catching my eye if Caleb Downs. Bakers time is coming to an end.
I know I Know, you can’t take a safety that high, but this guy is a stud.

I think anyone not named Mendoza, Love or Bailey are reaches when it comes to normal draft years at #3. Guys like Mauigoa, Reese, Downs, Bain and Styles all have drawbacks.
Bailey has drawbacks too honestly.
