Garrett Williams
Mike Wilson
Dante Stills
Tip Reiman
DTD
Walter Nolan
Will Johnson
Jordan Burch
Cody Simon
Denzel Burke

All of them have been very strong draft picks.

Williams
Stills
Nolan
Johnson
DTD
Burke

All have been exceptional for their draft position.

Sweat
Tomlinson
Campbell
Brissett

All great moves in FA

Locking up McBride is something the Cardinals could have/would have effed up many times with other GM’s.
Buddy let’s slow down on a rookie class who have been major contributors to a three-win season

This is a tough one. Keim was definitely better at getting free agents. it’s really too early to say whether or not Monty is good at drafting, but I feel like the players he has drafted have a lot of potential.

The one thing that sticks with me about Keim is when he came out on stage after trading our first round pick for Hollywood Brown, with a smug, stupid looking smile on his face and saying “surprise”. Yeah, way to go. ugh…. I think I have to go with MO just because of that.

And that is NOT any kind of endorsement for Monty.

Keim was far more risk tolerant -- willing to take big swings. Sometimes it worked -- trading for DHop. Sometimes it didnt -- trading for Hollywood.

Monti more "safe" -- slow but steady wins the race. I think this reflects his Patriot experience. But that experience really hasnt travelled consistently to other franchises.

How do you come up with this?

He hasn't won anything yet
its Monti's philosophy

accumulate picks, draft and develop, sign mostly mid-tier free agents, mostly avoid big contracts or trading picks for expensive players

as a philosophy I can support that BUT: you better be pretty good with your player selection in both draft and mid-tier players.

So far, he hasn't nearly been good enough.

I think it's too soon to evaluate Monti's draft performance. He's only been GM for 3 years verses 10 years for Keim. I'd argue that although to date Monti's drafts have only produced 6 clear starters, there's another 11 picks that may or may not develop into starters. My guess is that at least 3 of the 11 potential starters develop into starters. This would give Monti 9 starters from his first three drafts, which to me is average for NFL GM's.

6 Clear Starters
Paris Johnson Jr.
Michael Wilson
Marvin Harrison Jr.
Garret Williams
Walter Nolen
Will Johnson

11 Potential Starters
Jon Gaines
Tip Reiman
Max Melton
Dadrian Taylor Demerson
Isiah Adams
Trey Benson
B.J. Ojulari
Denzel Burke
Cory Simon
Jordan Burch
Kitan Crawford

What does it matter if they start for a terrible team? Cmon bro.

Trey Benson as a potential starter is one of the more hilarious things to be posted in this depressing year.

I said the picks and moves were good, not the act of keeping them and the remainder of the team healthy and in a position to win.
How may sacks does potential starter and great pick Jordan Burch have this season? Dante Stills?

It is really hard to be a starter in the NFL. Even harder if you aren’t a starter because the roster stinks

Like I said, it's too early to judge. It's starting to look like Jon Gaines may be a player after two years of nothing, and nobody thought Michael Wilson would be this good in his third year. While I don't think Beej or DRob will develop, I can't rule it out. Same with Benson, Burch and others. Let's come back to this next year or the year after. I'll make my final judgement at that time.

Until then, mock me all you want, cause that's what you do.

This philosophy only works when you have a very solid core player group, and a great QB. Otherwise, there's absolutely no room for error in the draft.

I dunno about a great QB but you definitely need to have a foundation to build around. Monti dismantled much of that foundation and started with:

TE Trey McBride
S Budda Baker
RB James Conner
QB Kyler Murray

Let me know if I’m leaving someone out.

Now, look at that list. Third-tier positions and a QB now-abandoned. Such a lack of initial roster-building really doesn’t justify a second chance.

Monti painted himself into a corner, and he desperately needed to hit on Pro Bowl caliber players in the draft to justify his approach. Having a great QB masks a lot of roster shortcomings, and if you don't have that, then you better have top-tier coaching. Just been a failed experiment across the board, really.

The coaching stay may be a wholesale failure of Eberflus proportions

A lot of carts being put before horses IMO here
