First off, I give MB credit for doing what needed to be done.
I appreciated that he referenced the blueprint for a one year turnaround. Specifically he said the expectation will be to win in year one, not year two. He could have easily not said that, so I appreciate it. This is a departure from what he allowed Monti to do in year one.
What I didn’t like was that Monti said the process will be long. Actually I loathed that comment. I feel like he’s preparing us to be the last organization to hire this offseason, which we all know means we will get the worst of the candidates.
The reporters did ask some pressing questions, but I wish they would have asked:
1. What were the athletic trainers doing/not doing that perhaps contributed to the amount of injuries the last couple of seasons?
2. What lessons did you learn from the last time you hired a coach, and how are you going to get it right this time?
