I heard Hawks had a 25mil cap exception, maybe they'd be willing to spend that on signing Beal to a 20mil per deal after we bought him out, and we trade Richards 5mil along the way.

I believe it's a trade exception and can only be used in a trade.

So, of Beal's 53 mil, 20 mil comes off the cap this year and next and they take Richard's. Is that how it would work. Suns end up dropping 25 million per year from the cap.

I believe it'd be we buy out the remaining 110m with 70m and stretch it to 5 years with a 14mil cap hit each. We actually clear 39m from cap this year. That's if Beal can get a 20mil deal elsewhere.

Beal for Dame straight up. Who says no?

I think Beal looks a lot better playing with Giannis and Milwaukee needs to do something to try to keep Giannis happy. They have very little flexibility to do anything and wasting a year with Dame out is a punt on a prime Giannis year.

For the Suns, they clear out Beal and don't have to worry about Dame's fit until next season when he would be a massive expiring contract.

Suns has to go under apron first, and then do Beal/RO for Dame/Connaughton. I saw such suggestion somewhere on the net earlier.

Can't we do concurrent deals rather than combine them?

I'd do Beal for Dame in an instant but Dame has always been a favorite of mine.

Paul “hurt” and can’t perform when it matters most? Nooooo you’re kidding me.

And I’m totally okay with that. I’d rather have him on the bench, as a mentor, in street clothes than a huge amount of alternatives.

We never should have traded him in the first place.

Wonder if Wizards would do us a solid and take Allen for free and then give us Marcus Smart for whatever in the second trade. Actually, I am not sure that's even legal under the current CBA. Alternatively, unload Allen to Brooklyn for nothing, and then try to get Smart. Good-enough shooter, still a solid defender, veteran PG who can create and handle the ball, but doesn't need the ball in his hands all the time.

Marcus smart is the type of pg that would be a fit. That is if he can still actually play.

Brooks for Smart works.

Difficult to say what the deal with the Nets is as they just drafted 4 first round guards, but 3 of them are more pointish guards. Doubt they'd be interested in Allen without incentive, but I'd be curious what interest they have in Green. They could free up the space to take him without sending any money back, and if they were willing to add some mix of 2nd round picks and/or protected firsts I'd be all over it as it would get the Suns under the tax.

I feel like Brooks and Smart are very similar players... only Smart is older and can't stay healthy.

That would be a pass for me.

If they'd do a Smart for Beal trade, that is a no brainer.

But that’s the thing he’s not this yoda mentor. He’s a bully and a finger pointer. Our culture was trash here. This team was a dumpster fire at the end and what did Booker learn from Paul?

Today is the last day (6-29) to guarantee the contract of Nick Richards.

Says who? No teammates have trashed Paul since he left the Clippers. Only one player here didn't seem to get along with him and that dude is mattress shopping in Portland.

I meant to put this here:

The Suns are keeping Nick Richards. This is a good move IMO, providing insurance at the center position.

I think this signals they won't sacrifice potential assets to get under the apron. Richards should be worth a 2nd round pick and holding onto him at a low salary allows us to be a team others reach out to when looking for a big.

Yes, waiving a $5 million dollar contract never made sense to me when the Suns gave up significant assets in the trade for Richards.

I'd like to keep Cody Martin or trade him. He has value.

We do need three Centers if Willams is one of them. The theory on one of the podcasts I watched is Ott is good at developing big men. This gives him three young guys, plus Rasheer, to develop.

I was meh, either way. Richards is a cheap option this season.

I like Richards, especially for the price. Hopefully Oso can play some power forward.
