Nobody is taking Beal because they don’t want to be in the same position we are which is being powerless vs a player.

Guys. I have been totally away from the Suns for nearly a year. Just was not interested in a mediocre team with KD. Anyway. What's the point guard situation?

Gillepsie is worth keeping as a backup. We have the ability to retain him as a restricted free agent since he's on a Two-Way deal. He's a backup, essentially, at this point. Could be more but think Nash pre-Mavericks trade.

Booker and Green will likely share PG duties. Booker has come a long way from the Point Book days of old but he should not be a full time PG, neither should Jalen Green.

We're going to need to hope to add someone somehow for 4th quarters to help. Honestly an over the hill CP3 might not be that bad of a move.

We are so far away from competing with the OKC’s of the world that Brooks being able to guard Shai is pointless. The suns focus should be geared towards the future. WHAT’S NEXT in the NBA is all that matters, not what’s now.
I'm not saying the Suns are not far away from competing, but I'll say we no longer know exactly where they are. They just rebuilt themselves on the fly, dumping Kevin Durant and adding a defensive enforcer while getting considerably younger; so I have no idea who they could compete with.

That would be unfortunate. I hope for Collin Gillespie to be at least the first backup point guard. We heard from Kevin Durant that Gillespie was providing leadership in the locker room. I would like such leadership on the court at least some of the time.

I am fully on board with the CP3 rumors.

Signing him for the minimum would be a no brainer. He's a coach on the court and when he's hurt (which he wasn't at all this year somehow), we've suddenly got half the roster full of guys under 24 years old and Paul is one of the highest basketball IQ players of all time.

I don't know WHY he would sign here, but I would be all for it.

I also don't think it will happen. We can only sign him for the minimum, the Lakers and Clippers would gladly sign him for the minimum and he's an LA guy.

I guess Richards is being kept.
This was written before the draft.

Phoenix does appear to like Richards as an option over Oso Ighodaro and Mason Plumlee, though the Suns are still expected to pursue other options in the draft or free agent market according to Arizona Sports' insider John Gambadoro:

If there is any way possible, the Suns need to keep Cody Martin, Collin Gillespie and Nick Richards.

Those are three NBA caliber players.

Unfortunately, I don't think that pesky 2nd Apron is going to allow that. I at least hope to keep Gillespie.

Names Westbrook, Gary Trent, Larry Nance Jr, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Sam Merrill, as possible free agents we should pursue. I am guessing the author thinks we are getting under the second apron significantly.

At least, give me two out of three. Martin doesn't have a terrible contract at $8,680,000.

I will sacrifice Beal, Allen and Royce if need be. :)

Gillespie we can retain. He's a restricted free agent. Monte Morris has a player option he would have to use.

If we can get Larry Nance Jr then I'll get a shirt with Gregory's face on it. I don't see it happening but he'd be a great pickup to help play PF and smallball C.

What do you think Oso is? He will never get in a game as a 4th stringer.
Some podcasts keep saying he could be packaged with Allen to get a better return on a trade because he won't get time. Suns could keep him and he could play some minutes in the G league to develop more. Suns are going younger. That's a reason to keep Oso. On the other hand, his skill set is as a center, but he's small. He could play PF, but he doesn't have a jumper. His motor and smarts on offense would be other reasons to keep him. I really have no idea if they keep him, except he is a small contract to keep on the Suns. Especially if we are stuck with Beal.

Hopefully Nance doesn’t turn into one of those players we finally acquire at the end of his career. We needed him three years ago.

IMO Oso is as good as expendable.

Double the salary for Richards but double the stats too. Oso really is a tweeter without any shooting, like zero.

i think oso's making less than $2 million a year? $8 million over 4 year $5 million guaranteed - oso is exactly how you get under the apron(s)

Yeah I think his decline has already started. I would still sign him for the min though.
