Who said anything about Keap? I'm talking about Wilson.

I'm guessing he will get something around 2-3m more per year than Dalton got.

I misunderstood. And went blathering about nothing. Won't be the last time. Apologies.

Oh I see now. Redheart meantioned SF and I didn't see it.

Speaking of Keap his contract isn't that egregious when you break it down.

Agree about his contract, they didn't really pay for his potential in my opinion. The guy can really drive a football on every throw. His out-route passes are on a line, whereas Stanton's, for example, are lofty interceptions waiting to happen.

I mention the out-route a lot, but that's because if you get a QB with a strong-ass arm, it's almost impossible to stop. Especially with receivers nowadays that can tightrope and keep their feet in-bounds and when they have such great hands. As a QB you're basically throwing it 20 yards up-field and another 20 across, on a rope--and you can throw the ball almost out of bounds, so that only the receiver can get it. My favorite route, but hard to do consistently from a QB perspective.

In any case, more blather. Haha. ;)

Agree with you about Wilson though. You pay him what you have to. I really do believe he's the best QB in the NFL. He changes everything for that team and any team he's on. People talk about the rest of his team, and granted, he's on a great team, but nobody says Peyton is surrounded by studs, and he is. He's got weapons galore, on both sides of the ball. Even with the Colts people act like he had nobody around him. He had Marvin freaking Harrison and Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark and the best offensive line in football.

I'd still take Rivers, Luck and Rodgers over him.

He's on the best team in the league and he's one of the best. there are on a few others I would take over him. certainly reminds me of a better version of big ben to this point in his career.

I first saw Wilson play in college, Wisconsin IIRC. I watch almost no college FB but thought man this guy is good and hope the Cards draft him. Then come draft time I discovered he was height challenged and didn't want him. I even debated with AZSteve, IIRC, that the odds of Wilson being a quality starting QB were not good at all.

My argument was that at some point a player will simply be too short to play QB in the NFL, is that 5'10" or 5'8" or 5'6"? Not sure where the line is but there is a line. So at this point Brees at 6' (probably a tad under) has proven a special talent like him can succeed playing QB in the NFL at that height. At this point Wilson has proven that he is special enough in so many area's that his 5'10" isn't the hurdle or hindrance that I thought it would be.

I do recall a game last year where Wilson at home against the Cards looked VERY mediocre because the Cards stopped the run and didn't allow Wilson to scramble for extra yards. They forced him to carry the game on shoulders only using his arm and not his legs. Cards threw like 4 picks and were still able to beat a punchless Seahawk offense.

Do I wish the Cards had a young QB with the same talents as Wilson, YEP! Is he the best in the NFL right now, NOPE. Could he be the best as he continues to gain experience, it's possible.

I'm not sure if it was me as I didn't really become a firm believer until I watched him in his first preseason game. I already knew how intelligent he was, that was obvious when Gruden worked him over. But his poise under pressure and his command of the huddle convinced me he'd succeed in the NFL despite his size. I don't think he's the best QB in the game nor do I think he will become the best (not with Andrew Luck out there) but he's a special player. But top three or so, yeah, I think he's almost there now.

The best QB in the NFL changes every week. Check out Flacco's stats this week, compare them with that shorty Prince look-alike from Starbucks land, than say the shorty is the best. The shorty is smart, but you can put midgets in boxes, even quick midgets. Contain and let him win the game with his arm.... or lose the game with his arm...

Best QB in the NFL's statline:

14/28 126 yards 0 TDS 1 INT.

Did have 2 carries for 12 yards and a TD on the ground.

Hope it didn't sound like I was calling you out, my intention was to give you credit because Wilson is far better than I thought he would be.

Sounds similar to what the Cards did to him last year. All of the great QB's have had sucky games but that stat line screams non franchise QB.

He did have a bad game but I stand by my statement(s). Luck is the only QB who makes me rethink that position. The rest of the QBs people have mentioned are old(er), even Rodgers who pulled out the victory in the last seconds of the game today.

Wilson wasn't consistent but Rodgers and Brees and Brady haven't been this year either. Luck has been the most consistent out of everyone so far. He's been completely awesome.

I'm just glad the Hags lost.

Hey, I would love to have Wilson on my team but he's not even close to being as good as Luck.

Don't agree with the disparity you mention but there's no doubt that Luck has an understanding of the game that is exceptional and the physical tools to do something about it.

Not at all. I think we did have a conversation but I didn't want to say I was in on him all that early. There was someone else here that was pushing him around draft time (I forget who) but I didn't jump on his bandwagon until August that year.

I did just reread my initial post and you are correct we had the conversation during preseason and not at draft time.

Im a HUGE Russell Wilson proponent. But he cant touch Luck.

But Luck is the perfect prospect. So theres no shame in that.

of the older QB's manning is still the very best. of the younger QB's luck to me is who I would want and it's not even close, but he still has some improving to do himself.

wilson is great, but IMO plays on the very best team in the league. QB is the most misjudged position in the NFL imo. you can have a guy getting too much credit because he plays on a great team or not enough because he plays on a bad team. I like wilson and RG3 both. RG3 is an afterthought now, but just 2 years ago he was the face of the NFL? or close to it. and although I love rg3 the person coming from a military background... i've never been an RG3 fan being a texas(longhorns) guy...but I think RG3 could do some of the things wilson is doing if he played for a winning franchise like Seattle as opposed to Wash. One guy is a champ the other is hurt and looks to be on a downward spiral.

Stud. Leader of a SB team. Accurate. Runs and safe.

Remember all of us saying he was too short? And then going on and on because we beat him his rookie year? Haha. How good is this guy? Seriously.

IMO he's the most consistent great QB in the NFL. Doesn't care about #'s, just wins.

Yeah, hate me, whatever. He's badass.

Is there a better QB in the NFL? Who and why? I don't see it.

He still is not as good as Peyton Manning.

Agree. I just think Wilson is a once in a generation, special type player. We're going to have to deal with him for a long time. I think, even as much props as he gets, that he doesn't get enough. He wills wins. He basically won the game against Denver--that whole OT drive was him, all him. And as you reiterated tonight his scramble and pass, after killing them, just KILLING, them running, his pass to Lynch on that scramble wins the game.

He's a really exceptional player. Really good.

A couple more years and it will be Andrew Luck.
