How silly of me, as it's quite obvious from your post/avatar.

First, maybe that is a reason to not jump to conclusions in the future?

That being said, I'm sorry. I'll be more abusive in my language regarding ASU from now on so that everyone knows. I am a graduate student at UT. I'm trying to get myself to care about the Longhorns, but apparently nothing can take any love from my Wildcats. If fact, I probably like ASU more than UT from growing up in Phoenix.

No, No, I'm the one who should be sorry, subtle sarcasm with no context or background is patently obvious on message boards.

"Jumping to Conclusions" is the second most popular activity on ASFN, with only "Panicking Before Halftime" being a more cherished tradition.

JTS

Not even close. The most popular activity on ASFN is writing "He just needs more time."

Any ASFNer also knows you never panic before halftime. We all know the time to panic is when the Cards are ahead by 6 with 2:12 left in the game and the Cards have just downed a punt on the opponents 2 yard line. :D

Thanks for posting this. great stuff.

Did anyone ask him about which players they plan on extending this year?
Amen, best insider thread in a while.
Awesome stuff. Offering a 1st and 3rd for Kevin Kolb?
My perception is they paid more, basically what they got in DRC (former 1st rounder who proved value) and a 2nd.
It's possible that David Carter is everything we were hoping to get from Alan Branch--or at least what we were getting from Alan Branch at 10% of the cost of Alan Branch. It's also possible that we feel having David Carter under contract for four years makes us comfortable with not paying Calais Campbell in 2012. :(
Carter got a LOT of playing time Sunday. That speaks volumes (about NT situation too). Good teams sometimes let talent go. I think Campbell should stay here and get paid, but hope that if they do let him go there's a justifiable reason.
The market sets the price for him.
According to 187, Graves said the market... was
other offers on the table including one that was a 1st, 2nd, and an undisclosed piece.

Thank god I got the mat:

Many of us have said that a big part of the sucky season last year was due to the QB situation. Our O-line looked worse then they were because hot reads were missed and open WR's were missed and etc.
Several of us have stated that the suckage at QB also negatively impacted the D.

For those who disagree I say look no further then the Colts. So YES the QB position is without a doubt the most important one in FB and all of sports (save maybe a hot goaly in the NHL during the playoffs).

Not a shocker we gave up a 2nd rd pick and a talented CB to get the best QB available this past offseason. By that I mean Kolb has a ton of upside and has shown flashes of being an elite QB. The fact that other teams were offering similar if not better overall value then us means the market was set and we paid a reasonable price.

I'd pay $1000 for a bottle of water if I was stranded in the Sahara for a couple of days. Wouldn't care if the dude I bought it from was gonna send help back for me in a couple of hours. Going another year with Suckage at the QB position simply wasn't an option.

This makes zero sense. Sports history is littered with examples of players that teams "overpaid" to acquire who not only justified but surpassed the expense required to obtain them. Once upon a time the Lakers overpaid by trading their starting center who averaged 16/10 the previous season for some high school wing out of Philadelphia. How'd that work out?

agreed.

First of all awesome share, I've been busy and this is what ASFN is all about for me, I don't have to scower (maybe a BIM) the web for this kinda good stuff. Second. wow Graves went all "open book" on us. That's cool, it's probably a lot easier to do when things went well. When stuff sucks they usually offer no rhyme or reason. :D

I like a club that can say what exactly went down when it went down, it shows they were really trying to make the team better...sounds like this should be the case all the time but if you think about it, it hasn't. There's a new Owner in town IMO, he not only expects results but he's down to pony the dough to make it happen. So no excuses for Graves or Whiz any more, that mixed with the straight up BPA approach (that just so happened to coincide with what Philly wanted for Kolb) that we were very successful with. Some areas were kinda of left un-adressed but all and all we did some big things.

With some kind of success the pocket book will most likely make another appearance, which means another appearance for Whiz, Graves, and who ever was in there saying "BPA damn it!" Kolb and Larry are locked up on offense, if we get the line together we can make superstars out of our TE'S and our other WRs. Beanie too. It all rides on Kolb though, we've seen what happens with no QB.:)

No. If you pay $6000 for a Gremlin and it manages to run for the next 10 years and only require preventative maintenance, it doesn't justify the purchase price.

If you pay $40 a share for Apple stock when it's listed at $20 a share, it doesn't matter whether or not the stock is worth $240 a share five years later, you still overpaid at the point of purchase.

That has to be the worst analogy I've ever seen on this board.

Comparing Apple's stock which switches hands 20,000,000 times a day to a potential franchise QB of which there might be 15 currently on this planet and oh by the way almost never hit the free market is beyond silly.
