Cards eager to bring in free agents

By Darren Urban, Tribune

INDIANAPOLIS - Rod Graves returns to the Valley on Tuesday when the NFL scouting combine is over. And at 10 p.m., “You’ll probably catch me at my desk,” the Cardinals’ vice president of football operations said.

That’s because the free agent period begins that night — 10 p.m. Arizona time — and the Cards plan plenty of early activity. Coach Dennis Green will also be working the phones that evening pitching to prospective players, since the Cardinals figure to have about $15 million in cap space to use during free agency.

“We are going to try and have as many guys as we possibly can visit us as quickly as possible,” Graves said Saturday at the combine. “One, we’d like to be in the mix. We feel if we can get a guy out to our place, we will be able to sell some things.

GLAD TO SEE THINGS GOING ACCORDING TO PLAN:rolleyes:
