They have asked for permission to interview several. We have no idea where they are in the process and that's just fine. Also, they have hired at least two on the offense side...OC and RB.

There are several good DC options still available and only 3 openings.

I ain't afraid to offer Cleveland a 7th/conditional 6th for his rights.

If we post a top 10 defense next year that's worth a 6th round pick

Lots of decent choices for DC this year. Hard to go wrong.

However, with a first time HC I think we need to give him a guy he can just give the defense to and forget about it.
Not totally forget...he is the HC and all...but a guy he can depend on to know what needs to be done so he just does it...with no supervision.

Schwartz or Martingale would be our two best options.

Meh, Wink is my least favorite. He's 62 and was garbage in NY. He's shown that he's only good when he has a stacked roster in Baltimore and Michigan.

He couldn't even land the Jets job.

Bullard is the natural fit. Already knows a bunch of the players and plays a Vance Joseph based defense a bunch of the guys played before.

Ralis will be a LB coach in Green Bay, when it's all said and done - IMO.

I prefer DCs who have coached front seven as assistants, they just seem to understand pressure better. That might just be vibes though

I honestly do not care what it cost. Heck, we only swapped picks with Philly for Gannon. We gave up a 3rd and received a 5th. Cleveland is not a Super Bowl winning team so give up the first pick of the 7th round for Schwartz assuming he would come to Arizona. He may not want to join and a discussion / deal would have to be developed beforehand.

If we are going to give the Browns a draft pick i would rather give them several for DE Myles Garrett not Schwartz. Our defense would be one of the best regardless of whoever our DC is.

The Texan DB coach almost seems like a package deal along with the Rams LB coaching hire for DC; they would involve poaching a couple of the defensive coaches on the staffs of the Texans and Rams. Staff components for a unit that must thrive independently with ML calling the plays and delegating tasks to his offensive staff.

I heard on the radio that Coordinators cannot be traded for draft picks so Cleveland would have to release him from his contract.
