When he first arrived in the big leagues last month, Yasmany Tomas seemed tentative at the plate, almost like he were feeling his way around a pitch-black room, careful not to break anything. On defense, his throws had the look of someone trying not to make a bad one.

But, in recent days, as more hits began to fall and more ground balls began finding his glove, everything about his game has slowly transformed, and Tomas has started to show why the Diamondbacks gambled $68.5 million on him during the winter.

In the Diamondbacks' 3-2, 13-inning win over the Miami Marlins on Monday night – a victory that snapped a four-game losing skid – Tomas had a two-run double, snagged two hard-hit balls at third base and even belly-flopped into first on an infield single.

He looked loose and relaxed. He looked like someone playing a game.

His at bats have improved tenfold as well. No more awkward swings at balls and no more weird check swings at strikes.

Trumbo was saying after the game last night that he's picking up English well, and he's getting to know his teammates better. Good to see and i hope he continues to accommodate himself to America and continues his improvements on the field

He really seems to be coming around. Wonder where they will put him when Lamb returns in early June.

'Any takers for Trumbo?

We needed him . . . until Yasmany became comfortable and showed he can handle the bat.

I think he will overtake Lamb, who has yet to show consistency at this level. If he doesn't that means we have two really good young players and a piece somewhere to trade (maybe Trumbo as previously stated) for value.
