Back on April 17 at Yankee Stadium, Schlittler yielded just one unearned run across six innings (2 walks, 6 Ks) and received a no-decision in a 4-2 Yankees win.

And in Wednesday's series finale, Gerrit Cole is scheduled to make his second start since coming back from Tommy John surgery rehab, facing the Royals' lefty Noah Cameron.

Manager Aaron Boone is eager now to see Cole "get settled and back in the...rhythm of pitching every five, six days.''

There was nothing yet on Giancarlo Stanton's comparison MRI (right calf), which was scheduled for later on Tuesday afternoon, following the slugger's workout at Yankee Stadium.

If the results are good, Stanton would be expected to begin ramping up toward a running program.
