The Minnesota Wild have gotten a trade done.

It's for Nashville Predators forward Michael McCarron, a 6-foot-6 powerhouse on the front line.

The deal was reported Tuesday night by Michael Russo of The Athletic.

The Wild will send a 2028 second-round pick in return to Nashville.

McCarron was scratched from the Predators' lineup on Tuesday for "roster management" reasons, which suggested something like this was imminent.

This is the last year of McCarron's contract with just a $900,000 cap hit, so it's a cheap rental for the Wild.

He's already been coached by Minnesota coach John Hynes previously when they were both in Nashville.

McCarron is the Predators' leader in hits this season, with 165. He has also won more than 53% of his faceoffs over the past five seasons.

This season, McCarron has averaged a career-high 14 minutes and 30 seconds of average ice time per game.

He also has five goals and seven assists in addition to his role as a gritty player and penalty killer.

It's a small move for the contending Wild, who may still have more to do.

It's also a small move for the Predators, who have big names on the trading block, like Steven Stamkos and Ryan O'Reilly.

But it's something, and the NHL trade deadline is moving in soon.
