COLUMBIA — South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley said her starting point guard Raven Johnson is still not feeling 100%.
"Raven is a little bit under the weather so we just told her to just rest today," Staley said.
Johnson was the only South Carolina player missing at practice on Feb. 20.
She played 19 minutes in the 76-57 win over Alabama on Feb. 19.
No. 3 South Carolina (26-2, 12-1 SEC) hosts No. 17 Ole Miss (21-7, 8-5) on Feb. 22 (noon ET, ESPN). ESPN "College GameDay" will air from Colonial Life Arena starting at 11 a.m.
Staley clarified after the game that Johnson's two points and lack of minutes were due to her not feeling great. When asked postgame presser if she'll be good for the Ole Miss game, Staley said she expected her to be.
Her mother Kia wrote on X shortly after the win, "Feel better Raven. Need that energy for Sunday!!!!!"
Johnson averages 10.2 points and 28.9 minutes a game but played only 10 minutes in the first half against Alabama.
With 5:07 left in the fourth quarter she walked to the locker room but returned to the bench not long after, remaining out for the rest of the game.
It wasn't the first time a player missed a game this season due to illness, as Tessa Johnson was out because she was sick on Dec. 7.
Injuries are nothing new either, South Carolina's 88-45 win over Mississippi State on Feb. 5 marked the seventh different starting lineup for Staley this season.
In the last three games she's gone back to her usual starting five with Ta'Niya Latson healthy.
Reserve guard/forward Adhel Tac didn't play for the third straight game vs Alabama. She dressed vs Tennessee but didn't play and was listed out for the LSU game.
On Feb. 20, she was using a scooter to move around the court at practice instead of walking with a tall boot on her left foot.
Staley has categorized it as a lower-leg injury and said she's "still trying to figure it out" and is still day to day.
Tac is averaging 3.1 points and 3.4 rebounds off the bench. She missed the Jan. 18 win over Coppin State due to injury (nasal related) and is averaging 11.3 minutes per game.
An official SEC injury report for the game will publish at 8:10 p.m. ET on Feb. 21.
